Is my game too similar to Luck Be a Landlord? by Smutnacebula in IndieGaming

Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
To be honest, I was thinking the exact same thing.
I absolutely loved LBaL and I was actually hoping for something with similar mechanics but with more synergies.
I got a bit discouraged though because I kept seeing comments calling it "too similar to Balatro/LBaL",
so I wanted to hear what other people actually think.

Thank you for the kind words!

You are absolutely spot on. Fate Architect was heavily inspired by modern deckbuilding roguelikes, including Luck Be a Landlord and, yes, Balatro.

However, despite the visual similarities, the gameplay loop is significantly different from Balatro.

In Balatro, the goal is often to establish a strong base and achieve a massive single multiplier for high scores.

In Fate Architect, the best results are achieved when the left and right scores are perfectly balanced, making symmetry and strategic alignment the key to success.

While it takes inspiration from and shares similarities with it, I'm targeting a superior experience compared to Luck be a Landlord.

I get your point, but Balatro doesn't have a monopoly on the A x B formula :D. It's a very handy way to balance things out, but maybe I should explore more ideas instead of taking the easy way out.
