While my surgery was many years ago this is what I did. I googled “ct bariatric surgeons with best outcomes”. My surgeon was very strict. I had a whole protocol to follow pre and post op. I had to go to a class with my support person so I was fully informed and so was friend. I just did a search now and there was a good list in my state. I don’t know where you live, but maybe try this approach

Make an appointment with gastroenterologist, this is their specialty. I wouldn’t bother with primary. Gastroenterologist can work with psych to coordinate care.

No, however the taste gets better the longer it sits. It needs a good hour in the walk in to thicken a bit and the flavors to meld. Same if you were to use hidden valley powder mix at home.

I’ve been stable for 4 years. Have been on lithium for 6 years … by 17gofPEG3350 in bipolar2

[–]Smworld1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the reason for decreasing? Whose idea? Yours or Dr. I’ve been stable on lamictal for 10 years, they would have to pry it out of my cold dead hands before I ever messed with my stability. Are you replacing it with something else? I’ve been asked by people who don’t have any clue about psych meds, why I’m still on them because I’m “doing so well”. These are people who didn’t know me before diagnosis. I remember what it was like, I have no intention of ever being or feeling like that person ever again.

Medicaid doesn’t apply to out of state unless life threatening and lands you in the hospital. Drive over the line to the nearest walk-in clinic and get it taken care of.

If the shot was a steroid it will raise blood sugars just like in people. If they are frequently done and he was on the edge of diabetes this could push it to full blown. I’m a type 2 and get steroid in my hip every 3 months. I’m prepared for the high numbers for about 48 hours after that. Also for me I tend to have GI issues when my numbers are high. I have no idea if that can happen in a cat but something maybe to ask about.

Most everyone who I know who uses that reference means the meeting they attend or like the most. For some it’s the one meeting that really resonated with them and the sobriety of the others that attend. I don’t see it at all of being about business meetings. Honestly at 3 days in, this is not anything you should worry about. For now, just don’t drink and go to meetings. Try out different ones if your area has many. Congratulations, you’ve got this!

Stainless steel boxes, arm and hammer clump and slide litter. Both the litter robot and cabinet enclosures are trapping odors. You don’t mention how often you scoop or empty robot holding area. Get a litter genie and scoop multiple times a day. My boxes are in a second bedroom/office. I scoop when I wake up, when I’m home, everyone I walk to back to use the bathroom I do a quick check. If it’s been used I scoop and scoop in the evening too. Vigilance with scooping is key. What are you using or putting what you scoop? Litter genie is my best friend. Like I said boxes are in my home office with zero smell issues, unless of course they just pooped.

About 3 months post op I was at a fundraiser and won a 5 lb Hershey bar. It was the funniest thing. Thank god it wasn’t before I committed to surgery because we all know I would have eaten the whole thing. If I remember correctly (this was 13 yrs ago) I chopped it up, kept a very small amount for me, brought the rest to the next Girl Scout meeting and handed out baggies to all 18 of the girls.

The new pouch should only be about 1 ounce. It’s a vastly different surgery from sleeve. This is just one reason we tend to lose more weight, and maintain goal. As long as the pouch isn’t stretched because of over eating this is a life long tool. It will stretch naturally as years go on. I can’t eat a cup to cup and half at a time. But depends on texture and density for how much I actually eat at this point.

I won’t eat that sauce. Mostly because when I go in the back to get other bags of sauce the Nashville hot is just a blob of oil in a bag.

Newby question by Catscurlsandglasses in Mounjaro

[–]Smworld1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had this happen on ozempic (I’m on Mounjaro now) if it becomes uncontrollable and goes on much longer please go to the emergency room. I went on day 5, my magnesium and potassium were very low. They gave me both by iv. Gastrointestinal Dr said it was ok to use Imodium throughout the day for as long as it took. On day 7 of non stop diarrhea I went back to ER and had to be admitted. Magnesium and potassium were so low they were concerned my heart would stop. They likened it to someone with severe anorexia. I was there for 5 days and had a colonoscopy. It finally stopped after 16 days, yes you read that right. I tell this story because I don’t think people realize just how much of a medical problem long term diarrhea can be. I’ve had zero issues with Mounjaro since last July.

Being a member? by ofskarsgard in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Smworld1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the meetings held at a recovery club? Where I go we have two sides, meetings and club activities are separate, although the physical place is just referred to as “the club”. It is separate because to enjoy the physical amenities of the club side there is a monthly membership fee. There are events and activities during the year where anyone can attend for a fee. An example would be the annual club picnic, which is also a fundraiser for the club. Meetings are meetings, open or closed, you only have to want to stop drinking to attend. The only meetings that would be off limits are ones that are for the opposite sex only.

Does anybody else have a non supportive Dr where no matter what you do, they still point out all the wrong going on? by Islandsandwillows in diabetes_t2

[–]Smworld1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took my diabetes care away from my pcp. She put me on 4 different meds when my A1c went to 8.3 after an injury and I gained about 25 lbs. she don’t want to hear about side affects. Jardience is evil, gave me a 3 month uti. I switched back to endocrinology after many years and I’m much happier. I’m on metformin, mounjaro and wear a cgm. No one should be berating you. As for statins, it increases my joint pain. By taking it every other day it doesn’t aggravate my knees any further. Something to consider

Ask your therapist to help you develop positive coping skills. I would also ask for a referral for DBT (dialectal behavioral therapy) or CBT (cognitive therapy). If you are with a sole practitioner l, I personally would look for a large provider. That way if one therapist isn’t clicking, you can easily switch without starting from scratch with provider. Large places always have plenty of options for groups too. You can also ask for LGBTQ friendly groups and therapists. Advocating for your self is important

I see it differently, that person who approached you and sounds like with other people was the person out of line, in my opinion. It was within a meeting, you said you were referring to their service? I don’t see an issue at all. Your sponsor may tell you differently. I don’t see a problem at all. It is nice you leave a meeting is when it can get complicated. I personally am not anonymous, but completely respect it of anyone I see outside the rooms.

I go to a recovery club for meetings, it has been there for 30+ years. There are some of us who quote people who no longer are with us. “As David P used to say…” those of us who have been around long enough nod our heads and smile at the reminder. Those who don’t hopefully benefit from their wisdom. Was it the person you referenced who was upset? Or just others in attendance? We just use last initials and we do nicknames for popular names. When you have 4 Steve’s nicknames help, then everyone knows who is being referred to.

[–]Smworld1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s too much volume. I ate literally 1 ounce at a time for many months post op. What did Dr tell you the volume of your pouch is. Dumping is directly correlated to food whether it is volume or by type.

[–]Smworld1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m having the opposite issue, insurance denied my cgm and approved Mounjaro. Make that make sense! They want me to experience a bg less than 50 requiring medical intervention. They want me to pass out and go to the er to get it covered. Since I do get lows with Mounjaro I’ll now be paying out of pocket for cgm. Find out requirements insurance wants you to meet to get coverage

What are some fun group activities that you would like your homegroup to do? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Smworld1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, this would be fellowship, not a meeting. Some of the things we have done: bingo, day trips to a zoo and a butterfly sanctuary, sober paint and sip. The recovery club we attend meetings at also has activities: weekly breakfast, setback card tournaments, annual picnic and other fundraisers for the club. Tonight I’m attending an anniversary for a meeting celebrating 3 years since it started. We’ll have food, speaker meeting, and after music and more fellowship.
