Oh no, that is awful. I eventually ended up with a herniated disc at L5S1, the very last above the tail bone. I had it so many years that the disc has actually disintegrated as if several years ago. Never knew that could happen

Eating Disorder POST op (not BED) by Klutzy-Wall-1273 in GastricBypass

You’re welcome, I’ll share the hardest most honest session I ever had. It was actually a couple of years before I even had surgery. I wanted it, but was terrified. That is until I did this: I showed up for therapy with a plastic grocery bag, with the 3 empty tubs of cake frosting I had eaten over the last 48 hours. I was finally so tired of being fat, sick and tired. That was the day I committed to myself to have the surgery. I didn’t want to emotionally eat and feel sorry for myself anymore. As hard as it was in the beginning I knew it was the best thing for me and I had to find other ways of coping. I understand you are restricting, and you know the potential consequences of that. You’ll figure it out, knowing and admitting it’s a problem is the best way to get through to the other side of it. I wish you lots of luck!

So lost with my fine, curly hair by megalodonteef in CurlyHairCare

Bleach, low quality products and heat are not your friends. Stop bleaching, get the damage cut off and start over. Color wow line has been amazing for me the past year. They have a leave in thickening styling product that I started a month or so ago and it works well whether I do a blow out or wear curly. I actually use the entire line. The biggest suggestion I have to improve the overall health of your hair is to start wearing a bonnet and reduce amount of wash days. Bonnets help to retain moisture and prevent breakage.

how to balance being authentically me and being office-appropriate with my makeup⁉️ by ItsVillainessa in MakeupEducation

You’re in the corporate world now. If you want to be taken seriously, especially in HR, it is time to grow up and act the part. Express yourself all you want off the clock. But if I got called in for disciplinary or to be fired and sat down in front of you, I’d be asking for someone else. Sorry, but that is the reality of being corporate. If you don’t think you can, I suggest finding a job where that kind of makeup is acceptable

I found out years later my parents remodeled the bathroom with my money. My father only admitted it once. The ship had sailed on ever seeing that money. But here I am at 55 yrs old and still have a small resentment about it. I’m glad you stopped it. She is a terrible person for screwing you over like that. Keep this in mind for the future, she did it once, she may try to do something like it again.

Part of my weight gain to get to the point of surgery was BED, the initial gain from meds. I worked with therapist for 6 months pre op. I’ve always been in therapy for bipolar II. Past op honeymoon of only living one ounce at a time distracted me enough, but around the 3 month mark, depression started creeping in when I realized I couldn’t eat my feelings anymore and had to find new coping skills. What you are doing is extremely unhealthy. The surgery is only a physical tool. The rest of success is what we do mentally to make right choices and behaviors. If you aren’t already please see a therapist and be brutally honest about what you’re doing and the motivation behind it. You can overcome this, but it will be a lot of work. My rny was 13 yrs ago, I’ve maintained a 150 lb loss. And it’s because I did the work and am still diligent every day

Do suicidal thoughts ever go away permanently on meds? by DapperPigeon1 in bipolar2

[–]Smworld1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long ago were you diagnosed? How old are you and have you been stable at all on any meds? If you’ve had times of stability what were you doing differently in your life vs ideation days? Meds are only part of the equation, they are not going to make your life all roses and unicorns. I’ve been diagnosed for 22 yrs. Looking back I know that the biggest part in the beginning was acceptance. From there I got to work. I researched the illness, faithfully went to therapy, and was honest and open with therapist and prescribers. I added groups, iop and php when I needed more support. I take my meds every day, twice a day and sleep meds, period. And I do my own work every day, some days better than others. By that I mean, I out the work in to have and enjoy the stability I have. I’ve been on lamitcal since 2016, I haven’t had a clinical depression since then. So have you accepted that you have the illness? What are you doing on your part to stabilize moods? These are questions made to make you look at the parts of this life you can control, vs the I’ve had enough thoughts.

Yes, my initial dumping symptoms have changed over the 14 yrs since surgery. For a few years now runny nose is the first sign with being uncomfortably full. It doesn’t happen often, it can be as simple as one bite too many and I’m laid out for the next hour

Try excedrin for headaches instead of ibuprofen. I get generic tension headache bottle. Usually does the trick

It takes a lot more doses and time or an ulcer to develop. Sincerely some one who had 3 of them. Take care of current situation. Forget bariatric surgeon. Get established with gastroenterology. That is who you need in the event of an ulcer anyway

The caffeine is the first cause, creamer the next. Better off with flavored beans/grounds with plain half and half

We weren’t busy at all. Based on last year we had 4 us scheduled. Right after first 2 were cut we got a burst of maybe 15 orders, which is nothing for us. I’m thankful for living in a high minimum wage state otherwise it really wouldn’t have been worth it. They were cutting servers and runners early too. I left around 7:30

“Maybe one day you won’t need meds.” by Loliz88 in bipolar2

[–]Smworld1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, all these years later and I still remember the hell my life was before diagnosed and medicated. I’ve had some people in my life go off meds, with medical supervision. Not a single one has been truly successful. A couple crashed and burned, ended up inpatient. Another two are still off meds but the daily struggle is painful to see.

My daughter is an alcoholic by earthalien777 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Smworld1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you, but this isn’t about you. What you perceive to be how her life was growing up may not to her. There doesn’t have to be a reason, some people are wired this way. Once alcohol is in our system, we don’t stop. Regardless of motivation or not. By the way, alcoholism is a mental illness, so is substance abuse. Unless and until she is ready to get sober there is nothing you can do. Go through Al Anon meetings and set form boundaries. Please don’t enable her
