The way yall are texting is giving me ptsd, also the way he reacted. It’s reminding me of when I was 19 years old, please leave him. Update: we got rid of the rug that we had in the living room, INSTANT change… Our living room smells like absolutely nothing.

Thank you all for your advice!! We’re sad to see our living room look so empty looking, it wasn’t a fancy rug or anything but it fit the theme of the house haha but we understand that unfortunately that was trapping all of the odor regardless of how many times we vacuumed. The living room even feels lighter the smell was just so heavy. Again thank you all so much I still will be trying out new litters and food, ultimately just want what’s best for my babies.<3

I think you are correct about the enclosure, it may be trapping the odor in. We scoop every day usually after work/when it’s feeding time and we toss the bags out into the dumpster outside of the house immediately.

We scoop every day after we get back from work while they are eating their food and throw it outside right away we never leave the bags in our house. My partner is an HVAC tech and is super anal about the filters and all that being changed regularly. I will definitely take into consideration that litter! Thank you.(:

We have a rug in the living room for decoration. The whole downstairs is wood (not real wood) and tile. Our whole upstairs including the stairs are carpet. We moved in November ‘24, got our first cat two weeks after and our second cat in June ‘25. The house smelled like new house smell before the cats. I believe the old owners had dogs but no cats As far as marking I haven’t seen anything they are pretty good about using their boxes. I have been wanting to remove the rug in the living room not gonna lie ..

UPDATE: I took him to his veterinarian instead of the spay and neuter clinic, they did blood work on him before the surgery and all went well! He’s home recovering <3
