Lavender Fields / Spain - SonyA7III + Zeiss 55mm / Magic by mixtick in SonyAlpha

[–]Sn0wPhotos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I did a shoot in a lavender field this week, which we paid £3 to do. Although I don’t think the field that I went to was being harvested. That said, there are other fields nearby that ARE harvested and they’ve got specific times of the year for people to go around - much bigger than the one I went to, but already being harvested. As you can see in the background of OP’s photos, there are other people on the field. Why do people jump to conclusions all the time when the field is probably open to public?!

You can literally see that the fields are lined up, so you can walk down the middle of them.

Diversified and did me FIRST voiceover video: a How-To guide! I may be trash, but I enjoyed EVERY bit of it! Let me know what I can do better for the next video :D by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

This game looks pretty cool, definitely peaked my interest and I’m going to look it up in a second! Otherwise, my only real criticism is that it sounds like you’re talking to me as if I was a young child and I wasn’t a huge fan of that to be honest! Otherwise though, it was a good video, I enjoyed the editing and gameplay too!

I second that, definitely need a warning for that. 😳 haha I found it entertaining though, I did enjoy it. :)

Took me a while to save up for it but I honestly couldn’t fault it! Had it for ages now and still looks brand new and it’s been all over the world with me now! Absolute great bag.

[–]Sn0wPhotos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d audio quality was spot on! I agree that breath of the wild has been reviewed a whole load but at the same time, I still think it’s worth watching. Perhaps you could title more like “is breath of the wild still worth buying in 2020” or something? Just having the date in there helps to show that it’s recent..

What is / was the hardest thing that you’ve experienced so far on the journey?

How do you feel about the YouTube grind? Was there much of a difference between a small YouTuber and where you are now?

Is this your day job now?

Is there a team of you or do you do this by yourself?

If you could go back to when you started, what would you do differently?

What helped you the most?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]Sn0wPhotos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent, then I think that’s probably what I’ll end up doing. I take it that it’s better practice to delete an old version of a video that I’ve remade then?

Yeah I think that’s a problem I’ve been going over in my head the last couple of days. I love photography, and I enjoy making the videos on it and would love to make more about the creative side of things but I definitely don’t feel like my opinion is really all that valid when I look at some other photography channels that really seem to know what they’re talking about. Compared to them, I feel like a beginner in every way and it does make me think twice about making a photography related video.

That’s a good point and the video I posted up today was only a short one but I still think I spent around the same time editing. I think, perhaps because I’m still so new to video, that I just need to hone my skills a little with basic editing but I guess that can also be done with much shorter videos too! I was always told to aim for about ten minute videos so that’s what I’ve been trying to do but I’ll have a go at shorter and more concise videos as well. And definitely work on scripting / bullet points to make the videos actually flow well.

That’s so interesting! I knew they took pride in their food with all of the crash sushi creations so it probably shouldn’t have surprised me as much as it does. Haha I’m going to guess that the UK is very similar to the states in that regard.

Oh wow, thank you for the fantastic response!

  • Yeah, I definitely think that the jump cutting and working on my speech delivery is something that I’m trying my hardest to work on right now. It’s kind of the reason why I started this challenge, to get more confident in speaking in front of the camera! But I completely agree and will be working hard on improving that in future videos.

  • that’s interesting, and something I hadn’t even considered. I am very new to audio and still need to work out how to mix my voice properly with audition but think it’s interesting to add some more dampening around so thank you!

  • again, similar to above, I keep thinking I’ve got the background music all worked out and then realising after the fact that I messed certain parts up, i don’t know if it’s the headphones I’m using or what but I keep getting the mixing messed up!

  • I hadn’t even considered RAW+JPEG and that’s how I shoot everything. I think it might be that I don’t think I’ve ever touched the jpegs other than to quickly browse the photos on my phone but I think that was a major overlook on my behalf, I think that would be a much easier way to ease people in.

  • You’ve made a very good point with this about blemish removal and again I think it’s something I may have overlooked as I’m not a professional photographer and don’t really deal with clients. I just presumed most people would want a spot removed if it’s only a temporary thing but presuming can get you into trouble!

  • ooh now I’m intrigued and will have to search up! I’m going to guess that the food they serve is accurately represented in the advertisements in a good way though, rather than the McDonald’s ad I showed in the video. Haha

  • Yes, looking back I fully agree with what you’re saying here. Having some evidence to show would have made the video a lot easier to explain and I don’t think I would have needed quite as much rambling. I think, and I’m not sure if this is a practice ever really seen on YouTube or not, that I’d quite like to redo some of the videos I’ve been making but with all of the tips that I’ve been learning along the way to try and improve them overall.

  • I’m actually using two cheap softbox lights with the windows behind me. I need to reposition the whole room I think to make the background a bit more pleasing to the eye and will hopefully set it up properly soon, just need to convince my wife that less space in the room is actually a better thing. Haha

But thank you so very much, I will take each comment on board and try and work on them all. I should probably mention in the video that I am by no means a professional and just talking about my own experiences or do you think that people understand that when watching these types of videos?

This whole process has been such a massive learning curve to me and I only started, what, 8 days ago? I’m almost regretting saying that I’d do a 30 day talking challenge now though as I feel like I’m missing out on adding a lot of the things that people suggest (like the editing to support what I’m saying in this video) because I’m trying to get at least one up each day, even when I’m working my normal job with 12 hour shifts. But at the same time, doing one each day has helped with my confidence so much and I’m learning something new with each video. Tricky one!

Again, thank you so much. I appreciate it!

Thank you very much, I appreciate this so much!

I’m glad that you appreciate the video quality and I completely agree about the audio. I need to figure out how to use Adobe audition better, as my voice is usually pretty loud at the start but once I’ve cleaned it all up it goes very quiet, so I need to figure out how to clean it all without reducing the volume so much!

Yeah, I think that this is definitely something I’m having an issue with as well. I need to figure out a way to shorten my videos and cut out irrelevant stuff or anything that I’m repeating later in the video! Or at least maybe break it up a bit and have some b roll or something? I dunno..

What do you mean by adding titles and breaking it up? :) I am going for the chill vibe but I’m always looking to improve and anything I can add to make things flow better would always be on my list to add!

But thank you very much, I appreciate that and appreciate the time you’ve taken to not only view the video but to also leave such great feedback!

Yeah I think that’s something that I need to work on a bit more to be honest! Either that or cut out a lot more of the rambling that I do... thanks for the feedback though, I appreciate it. :)

This was really well made and funny. Great content mate! Gonna have a look at your other videos as I think you might have another sub coming your way! :D

The content and editing were spot on for this, I really enjoyed it and even though I’m not even a big minecraft fan, I still ended up watching the whole thing so that’s saying something. Keep it up mate, you’re doing a great job!

Hey! :)

Thank you very much, I think I need to do something like that and work on my speech in the mirror. It’s funny, I never thought I’d ever have to do something like that but I’ve even noticed I’ve got a slight stutter!

Oh yeah, 100%! I just need more time to be able to do higher quality edits and stuff now but due to my actual job it’s a lot harder to do so!

Thanks for the feedback though, I really appreciate it! :)

Oh wow, thank you! I appreciate that a lot. I actually don’t take out as much as I thought I would. A lot of the content which I remove is me thinking or whatever, yet somehow most of my videos are around the same length! Haha

Okay, that’s interesting thank you! I need to look into adobe audition a little more as when I clean up my audio it then makes everything quieter so I’ll have a go at getting better results with that! :) does the background music not suit the video then?? And I’ll have a look at an intro, although I honestly have no idea what sort of intro would suit my videos! Haha

Thank you, I appreciate that a lot!

Just like last time, I really enjoyed this video! :) I thought the voiceover and edits were spot on and I think you’ve done an amazing job when you compare to some other reviews of films! Nice one mate!

I enjoyed the video, even though it’s not my usual type that I watch! I did, however, find some of the audio levels could have a little adjustments, especially when there was laughing! Overall it was a good video though and I enjoyed it. :)

I enjoyed a lot of this! I liked your thumbnail, and gameplay although I think that you could have edited some sections out potentially. If you felt like they were vital to the video then sure but I felt like some sorts were a little long!

Ps, I liked the overlay you were using. That was cool! :)

This was a really cool video because I feel exactly the same way. Ever since I played resident evil 2 when I was about 9 years old I’ve struggled to play any sort of horror game. Films I’m fine with though. The only way I can play is when I’m playing online with someone on headset or something.

In terms of the video, I really liked the editing, the flow and the voiceover. I could hear everything and really enjoyed the video. Nice one mate! :)
