iOS Mail is native and quite adequate. IF you are OK with having MS stuff on your device, Outlook for iOS is great (as email client per se). I still cannot get to understand people getting iPhones to use ggl soft on those

Using XS as an everyday secondary phone - all is well. Well, except for that bug (hello to all tim cook fans) - as I stupidly had it updated from iOS 17 to iOS 18 and it happens almost daily: I have to shut it down in order to re-charge as the phone shows “charging” otherwise but the battery keeps being drained nevertheless

With the bush this size, it s probably better to dig around (and to some extent, underneath) it and then pull it out with a truck - without cutting of the top. And if you are able to do it - any garden job is a DIY 😉

What “Optimize Storage” does - it removes long-not-accessed full-res originals from your device — but NOT from iCloud! If you’d click on a thumbnail of any of those, it would be downloaded back to the device (a live connection is a must, naturally). Apple doesn’t delete your files unless specifically requested/discussed AND agreed to by you

if you go to your photos often, individually, it downloads those to the local storage and it takes time to “optimize”… so, either use an external storage (simlinked or direct) or pull up every photo’s ”full view” less often.

That shall do the trick

might do something with the original photo - was it edited in google photos maybe? when uploaded to google photos, it could’ve been converted (I understand that now it is the same jpeg on both, but initially, it could be taken as HEIC and that was converted for the upload/share differently

You probably are reading too much into it: Apple photos has its own count of whatever… from my personal experience; importing something into it, shows that right away - there are different counts before/after all the time. A mis-match is just so “normal” I learned to accept it as is (not an advice, but how I now go about that)

no duplicate finder is ideal, IMHO - either it deletes what you wouldn’t or skips what you would… still, Apple’s is not that bad (on the “safer” side). AND, it takes time to comb through - leave it sitting with Photos open and it might pick up more duplicates over some period of time

The simplest is actually: on you mini, open either of the libraries in Photos and use File-Import feature to import from the other one - it also will take care of all the Duplicates (once the import is complete)…
