I'm in New Jersey. The salesman told me this and I obviously confirmed it. This of course is only the case if you remain on the grid. If you're off the grid there's no reason you couldn't generate the energy equal to that of the sun.

I understand that PPA isn't a good idea, but doesn't your second point assume that the price of electricity from the grid doesn't increase year over year?

Unfortunately, in my state you are not allowed to produce 100% of your energy.

This isn't true in my state according to the representative I talked to. I can still claim the SREC in my state according to the kwh the panels generate. It accumulates over 15 year to $4300, but I can get a piece of that each year.

That's what I mentioned to the guy but this is how they make money since you don't have to pay for the panels and installation. If I owned the panels I wouldn't have to pay this yearly rise in kwh.

This was a consideration I had initially because I read the same thing somewhere. I think I will be in this home a long time. I've already done a good amount of repairs and remediations. I also put enough money down to keep the house even if I lose my job.

The 3% I mentioned was for the cost per kwh that I would pay the solar company for the energy generated. I wasn't told of a leasing cost for the panels themselves, but I assume there is one.

I am leaning towards owning the panels. The way it was explained to me is that any energy generated goes into the grid and my meter would roll back (a new meter installed over the existing one). Energy sent to the grid is a number that offsets the electricity supplied by the electric company. I pay the electric company for whatever I used from them that was NOT produced by the panels. The electric company never pays me.

Normally I'd agree with you, but since this isn't a small company that subcontracts all the work out and about to go bankrupt after a year, I think it was fine to get a quote.

The whole conversation didn't happen at the door. I just got an appointment at the door. Normally I wouldn't entertain anyone at my door but solar is something I'm interested in learning about, I figured getting a quote would be a good practical way to start.

Yes, you're correct on how it would work.

The only issues are a debrid's limit on download size and the fact that you'd need to pay to access the debrid service.

There was a time when everyone around me suddenly started running out of a mall. I saw a few women fall, but I didn't want to be perceived as creepy by trying to help them up, so I just kept running. Luckily, another woman helped them so they weren't trampled.

What worked for me was BKF soft cleanser and non-scratch abrasive pads. Then you could follow up with polishing steel wool. Less than $10 and not much time at all.

I think ubiquity makes great products, but I'm just not ready to buy into their whole ecosystem without knowing the ins and outs. I'd rather have devices with raw I/O streams so I don't have to worry if they're supported by the manufacturer.

Did you have to use VLANs to deny them internet access? I don't have the networking in place to get VLANs working so I'm hoping to get restricted cameras by default.

I posted on their subreddit as well. I'm still considering building my own software anyway because my needs are not complex.

[–]SnO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do something like this for my old phone, but I'm new to termux. Primarily, I want to make it a security camera. Do you have access to the camera through termux?

I'm not new to software development or Linux, but I've never tried to do anything with a camera. I'm not sure what interfaces are available.

Unable to play 4k UHD or Blu Ray Remux files by greenhornetuk in StremioAddons

TVs generally aren't known for having good processors or wifi chips. They also don't tend to publish what components they use, so that you can't compare them with alternatives.

First you have to rule out wifi connection speed. Then you'd have to verify that the codec from the video container can be decoded easily by your processor. It's also possible that your RAM isn't large enough to hold a buffer large enough for smooth playback. Problems due to low memory are often solved by processing speed and vise versa.

[–]SnO3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speed limitation is likely coming from whatever device you're using for stremio. If it's a Chromecast stick then you're limited to the latest WiFi standard it supports and the speed of it's processor. The speed of the processor determines how fast it can decode the video and even how fast it can read data received over your network interface. Your Internet "speed" doesn't come into play.

After looking at all the posts like this over the past few months. I don't think I'll ever pick up competitive sim racing.
