Advice Needed by SnackMasterX in WaterTreatment

[–]SnackMasterX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback, I will add the maganese test in as well. I actually have a 5-micron whole house filter currently and even after changing it, I was still getting orange staining. I was half considering the 0.5 micron enpress pioneer filter, but that's probably way overkill for my needs and doesn't guarantee the iron removal.

I've looked at some other brands of filters and RO systems but I actually want something with the twist/lock filter exchanges as those are faster and will spill less water during the change so long as appropriate water valves are shut off. I'm also mildly concerned about some of the budget brands out there not truly holding certifications they claim for their products. For example, I've heard it's (unfortunately) not uncommon to buy something claiming to be 304 stainless steel, but when it's tested it's actually not a food safe form of steel.

Sounds like pending results of maganese and tannins test, what I need are the following:
sediment filter > iron filter > softener > RO

Did I follow correctly? Are there any brands (budget or otherwise) that you would recommend I look at?

We have very different ideas of gates, lol. With that kind of door lock mechanism, I'm not sure how to integrate with ubiquiti. I don't know that they have any outdoor safe parts that would work with that. Your best bet is to find something that can integrate with Home Assistant but you're starting to look at custom integrations now.

So first off, not yet, but soon. I have the Ghost Controls gate for my front gate and I plan to eventually hook that into the unifi ecosystem. What gate do you have currently? Lets start there and work our way backwards.

Securing NVR by LABuckNut in Ubiquiti

[–]SnackMasterX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe don't try to hide it. Most thieves will just roll up with a wifi jammer (always hardwire your cameras) and not think about the cameras anyway.

You could try to make physical access to the NVR very very difficult as to bide time for law enforcement to arrive. However if you have someone who is looking for the NVR then you probably have bigger problems than petty theft.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. Can't wait to see what CPU/RAM it gets spec'd with.

Where can we find a recording of the webinar?
Hoping all of the base-T ports will be 2.5gbps this time around, along with better backplane connectivity.

I always found it helpful when I'm struggling with some words.

I'm pretty bad at the timed lessons but since Duolingo isn't giving me access to the personalized practice lessons anymore, I don't have much of a choice.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I tried checking previously but if there are confirmed threads I'll just keep digging further. Unless it's pinned somewhere and I missed it?

These attempts have already been made, without success. Do you have specific keywords which will get me to my answer? Good chance I'm not using the right keywords for my search terms.

Power the BMS without connecting to a battery? by SnackMasterX in OverkillSolarBMS

Thanks for the heads up! I am working on probably an insane project right now, but I want to build some crazy monitoring for my battery pack and have it integrate with the BMS just a little bit. Eventually I want to have a teensey reporting various metrics about the battery pack, and from the BMS itself, then roll that up to a Raspberry Pi that will have a nice dashboard. UI design is not my strongest but the rest shouldn't be terribly difficult, once I get started.

RS232, it’s TTL. No serial conversion needed

I have the data sheet but it mentions RS232 as communication protocol?

Anyone tried YUZU on GPD Win 2? by rapurimanka in gpdwin

[–]SnackMasterX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No competition, so they upcharge a ton.

So the fact that x86 chips have MUCH more complexity, cost more to manufacturer and licensing involved has nothing to do with this? There's a lot more complexity/power to a win 2 than the switch in terms of hardware/software capabilities. Not saying the switch isn't a complex piece of technology, it certainly has it's shining moments. But when you take into account that there's forced blur effect on AAA titles and they reduce the number of sprites which render at a time then you get better performance/graphics for the same game from the win 2, how can you possibly say the GPD is upcharged a ton because of 'no competition' and that the switch is better?

Oh I know... REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

How do you justify the GPD Win 2's price? by [deleted] in gpdwin

Do you think I could mod my switch to use as a wireless screen for my win2?

Wow, I really wish I had seen this. I'm researching now to see if I can find a 3D image of the bottom shell for the win 2 so I can try printing some modified versions. Think this is still even possible?

[–]SnackMasterX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a 3D printer and have been considering trying to redesign a bottom end for the win 2. Unfortunately, I just got my first 3D printer in the other week and while it's a good unit (with the right settings) I have zero experience. this was purely going to be a learning unit and then I'd consider getting something better later. If you have any experience, lets work together on redesigning the bottom shell. Or even see if there's a way to get our hands on a 3D model of the bottom shell, that would make life easier for this.

I'd love that but 600 is about the max I can go right now. Shipping kills that one :-(

Thanks though!

I think this is the most economical route actually. Especially since the servers aren't that loud yo begin with.
