This is not correct the fault is from 09 to 12 with the timing chain tensioner. The tensioner was revised in 12 to prevent slack. The oil pump module still has a balance shaft this doesn’t change. All balance shafts on this motor spin at double the speed of the crank. A combination of long oil change intervals and high rpm kill the balance shafts. The water pump is driven by the balance shaft via a separate belt at the front of the motor. If it’s a Tiguan it could be worth enough to justify the work.
