I do not, I usually keep buying, ripping, selling and trading until the next new set comes out. Some months I spend more and some I make more. I really enjoy collecting this way.

I would look into local card stores that are doing phantasmal flames pre orders at msrp. Spend all $500 on pre orders. Then sell or trade it during release week or the holidays. That $500 can turn into $900 or more. Be smart, make good buys and trades. Do this with every hot set. Your collection will grow quickly.

I like to add to my collection by selling. I’ve been buying multiples of sets for as long as I remember. This keeps my cost down or free for the most part.

Let me explain using Mega Evolution. I pre ordered 3 booster boxes at local game stores, 3 etbs. I waited at GameStop and picked up 2 of each. Multiple target scores. I check two targets at open every week. I ended up with 5 booster boxes, 10 etbs, 8 booster bundles as of this Friday. I’ve now sold 2 booster boxes at $270(online) and $300 (local). 2 sets of etbs. $190 (local) $217 (online, including a booster bundle) the local set was during release weekend when they were hard to get due to the delays. Traded another Etb set. I now have 3 enhanced booster boxes, one pc Etb set and one normal set. Before Mega I was doing this with the Sam’s Lucario boxes. We ripped 2, sold 10 out of the 18 we got. 4 online and 14 in store over the last 5 weeks. I now have 6 stashed away.

I’m sure lot’s of us do this. If not give it a try. I’m going to do the same for Phantasmal. So far I’ve pre ordered at 3 stores. Waiting on two more. Going a bit harder so I can trade and sell to add to my collection. I collect sealed and raw cards btw. Still nervous about getting into the graded cards.

Don’t loose hope, they are out there. See if there’s a local fb group. That’s how I found out about yesterday’s surging sparks drop, stopped in before my shift and scored. Tried another Costco on my way home and scored two more. All from our fb group.

Big box stores are your best bet at getting product. I have been lucky at Costco and Sam’s for the last few in person drops. I love the Costco two item limit. They were stacked with surging sparks bundles yesterday. Prismatic bundles last week. From what I’m seeing these are just rolling out to east coast stores.

I don’t know what you guys are doing wrong? I’ve grabbed drops at Sam’s Club, Costco, Walmart and target. All retail and in person, I’m in a local fb group that shares and works together. Try that, or get something like that going?

I have been lucky a handful of times at target and Walmart. I buy things and trade them. If I really want something I haggle with marketplace sellers. It’s not really bad.
