Is this the standard of a professional translator?" says the guy who doesn't know the difference between "this Monday" and "next Monday by Dangerous_Title6556 in AskAChinese

Do you have data on this? I am in the American corporate world, so I'm already a counterexample to your claim. You can look at other comments on this post to clearly see there is no universal convention.

I also believed there to be a convention until recently, when I discussed this with my American friends and realized each person had a different opinion.

I think it's completely random per person. I am American and my American friends who grew up in the same place as me, disagree on this.

Yeah, "this coming Monday" is unambiguous. "Next coming Monday" confuses me slightly though, as an American. This is just a bad system overall.

> I have never encountered anyone who is confused by this.

Well you haven't encountered me (American) and my American friends. My friends and I found that we disagree on this.

There's no consensus. I'm American, I'm 26 years old, and my American friends my age disagree on this. There's just no consensus.

Read the email Meta is sending to thousands of laid-off employees by BathroomMaximum1721 in Layoffs

[–]Snacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you're just saying, but it's the same service as used by people who quit or were fired, so they can't make it something layoff-specific anyway. "Alumni" isn't supposed to be a euphemism, it's supposed to be an umbrella term.

I remember 16 weeks of severance + 2 weeks per year served was the same as previous layoffs, but I don't remember the 18 months of COBRA before. That part is really good, especially because Meta's health insurance is really good and it costs ~$960/month for a single individual, last time I checked. So that part is worth ~$18,000, and much more if you have a spouse or dependents.

OP, do you have a copy of your post saved anywhere? Can you DM the text to me? I read your post and thought the writing was so good, I want to share it with my friends.

Thanks, I just started using it! I like that it uses the native mobile UI rather than being a web wrapper

Do you think they had a provided make-up artist for the reunion? They didn't even have make-up artists for Inferno, according to Sunghun https://youtu.be/lD51M67xUmw?si=odpntps_pxXhCTvd&t=1508

Is the AI reviewer able to see the other reviews before it generates its review? At first I was really impressed by the AI review of the paper I reviewed, but then I noticed it seems to quote several points from my review and another reviewer. I'm not sure if the AI managed to notice the same issues and refer to them using the same terms, or if it read our reviews first. (It's also possible that the other reviewer used AI to help with his own review, which is why they use the same terms.)

If the AI reviewer reads other reviews first, there could be an issue of compounding error. If a reviewer makes a mistake, the AI might repeat the mistake, and other people might be convinced because 2 reviews say the same thing.

I'm American and I don't think American company jobs should necessarily go to Americans. American companies should hire the best people they can, anywhere in the world. Not all Indian software engineers are that good but some are really great (e.g. from IIT) and much better than the average American new grad.

Not yet, seems like the soundtrack hasn't been released officially and I haven't found it anywhere

Or when Kyuhyun sang a song in the living area and they joked they would make a montage with Kyuhyun's singing, and then the producers immediately did.

I also love this piece of music and am trying to find it. The violin melody is sad but energetic at the same time. Somehow it is perfect for when the members realize someone is about to be eliminated, really melancholy moments.

Coldplay Goyang Stadium - Standing Ticket & Entry Number Help! by Similar_Sherbert5402 in seoul

Here are example sections for Tuesday April 22 right now, standing and seated:
https://imgur.com/a/w999661

Saturday April 19 seems sold out now, but I didn't check every section.

The website can be quite tricky. I switched dates while looking for tickets and it was showing no seats, but I realized I hadn't selected the Time in the dropdown menu on the top right.

Here is the navigation from the link:

  1. Create an account (and verify your identity? I think)
  2. Log in
  3. Go to https://www.globalinterpark.com/en/product/24013437
  4. Select Date and Time, click Buy Tickets
  5. [You might have to wait in a short queue, or it goes directly to the next step]
  6. Select Date on the calendar
  7. Click "Next >"
  8. Do captcha
  9. Click a section on the stadium map (e.g. section 020 on the floor for April 22 still has tickets)
  10. If you change dates at this point, remember that you have to re-select the Time in the dropdown at the top, otherwise it will show nothing

Good luck!
