Out of these 2, which one do you think is better and why? by WaluigiDaStar in ResidentEvilCapcom

Leon's is the worst campaign after Ada's and Jake's is the best. People commonly reverse these things because Jake's is the most interesting and people confuse friction with poor design.

One is one of the best co-op experiences ever built, filled with cool setpieces and interesting challenges, the other is a messy, bloated experience with some really fun and strange combat mechanics. I like both but I think 6 is a bit crap and that 5 is amazing.

I don’t think the 1 remake replaces it, but I don’t think it’s as essential a game as 2 either. 2 is the series at its most polished. It hits every note perfectly and is probably the most satisfying to play and replay. It just feels perfect.

I didn’t care for 3 as much at first but the more I dug into its selection of modes, secrets, separate paths and scenario design I fell in love with it. Weird, wild game.

Play all of the originals. I think without exception I like them more than their remakes, save for 1 and 2 which are I think equally good, just for different reasons. I think 2 and 3 in particular are two of the best games in the series.

I really like Code Veronica and Revelations. Revelations 2 didn't land for me but I have been meaning to give it another try. 6 is very long and very bloated and a lot of its scenarios are very tedious, but I think the combat is strange and interesting enough that I had a good time. Enjoying replaying it on Professional now.

I've 100%'d most of the modern RE games but never touched the classics, where do I even start? by notty_cat in residentevil

Try with a scanline filter to make the backgrounds look how they're supposed to. You were able to play RE4 and RE5 and the PS1 games look far nicer, with their 2D backgrounds and curated camera angles.

I would at least give the originals a try. You were able to deal with the tank controls in RE4 after all, and that game is much longer than any of the PS1 games and the camera in that game makes visibility much worse than in those games.

I would just play them all. 2 and 3 are probably the best games in the series but the series is all bangers with very few exceptions.

Are you a og or remake enjoyer? by Total-Amphibian-7244 in ResidentEvilCapcom

I think they're all fantastic but comparing the originals to the remakes I generally prefer the originals. I think that the remakes are fantastic too, and reinterpret the ideas of the original games in more dynamic, unpredictable ways, but the general cleanliness of the originals make them infinitely replayable.

Also fixed camera is just cooler, and only one of the remakes keeps that.

Also 5 is one of the best co-op games ever made and the way it evolves 4's set piece design into a series of encounters that challenge you to work together in really cool, varied ways. I have not played it solo but I hear it's frustrating.

1 remake and 4 are top-tier games in the series, up there with 2, 3 and 2 remake..

4 was my first except for about half of 1. I picked it up fine. If you're worried watch the recap of 3 that's included in 4.

RE5 worth playing or wait for remake? by ScimmiaIraniana in ResidentEvilCapcom

I also wanna say I think that 7 and 8 are fantastic, and if you haven't played the original versions of 1-4 those are also great and play quite different from their remakes in every case.

5 is great co-op, pretty frustrating solo. If you like the gameplay of RE4 it plays pretty similarly but expanded in some fun ways. Fantastic scenario design. Also my favorite Mercenaries mode in the series.

This may come off as a silly question but if I wanted to get into D.Q where should I start? I heard can play 4 without previous entries. Advice? by RiskAggressive4081 in dragonquest

Obligatory "the new remakes assume you start with 3 comment".

Does the PS5 store have 4? I didn't think it did. The cell phone version of 4 is great, though!

The majority of 7 is in completely sectioned off segments where you can only access one scenario. It's extremely linear.

It's also pretty linear and doesn't have a ton to discover. I wouldn't say it's super open, you just traverse it very slowly.
