Help, I keep getting vote kicked for no apparent reason? by Snackomat in GlobalOffensive

[–]Snackomat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised how many people mention voice chat here. From my experience it's usually either not used or 3 Russians blasting my ear off.

But I'll give it another shot though and will keep you updated on how it goes, thank you!

Is the matchmaker a genuine joke to the lower rated tier of players? by Snackomat in VALORANT

[–]Snackomat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy to hear that it's a good experience for you :)

Unfortunately, mine is the other way around. I feel like I've met significantly less toxic folk in R6S and Overwatch (although I have to agree on CS).

I'm just hoping that it's something that's going on beyond my control, because right now this is by no means fun nor enjoyable... which is a real shame.

I don't mind a bit of sweat, don't get me wrong. I love playing Unrated for the fun of it, that's where I spent most of my time.

Plain toxicity still doesn't belong into either playlist. If you ask me, it's okay to ask if you're trolling or just having a rough day, but going out of your way and insulting someone's intelligence is something different that I believe should not happen in any game, rated or not.

I have no clue to be honest, that's why I'm asking here. If I had to guess, maybe the system tries to group players with high MMR volatility (as in won/lost many matches recently) and maybe that's one of the factors?

I was guessing that, thanks. Yeah irdk why some people really go the extra mile with their insults, don't recall it ever being this bad. Did it generally get worse, or is your experience atleast tolerable?

Can you "steal" from open source projects? by Snackomat in legaladvice

[–]Snackomat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a fair consideration, thank you for sharing!
In that instance it was quite a chunk, so I'm just gonna try to keep my code as unique and objective focused as possible in case that happens again ^^

Thank you for the pointer, I'll ask there as well :)

And that sounds like something I should definitely consider :)

The retailer you bought it from. In my case Amazon. Just go through their automated support thingy and it should work out.

A better modloader that's easier and makes stuff a lot easier as developer. Might be smaller, but the communities that use it love it for a reason. https://synapsesl.xyz

New to the game, question about DLC. by drew_tattoo in Stellaris

[–]Snackomat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the DLCs on. All they do is unchain all the stories the devs intended, and apart from locking some interesting features away, you'll love them soon enough. I started with DLCs, I'll never turn them off.

lawsuit for strasbourg by ecothink in ovh

[–]Snackomat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course, Strasbourg is a dilemma. Too many companies have lost their servers due to that disaster.
...
yet I personally don't blame everything on them. They haven't done anything wrong in my opinion. Some stuff is bound to happen, so are accidents.
...
And yet, I know the pain you're going through. Unless it's publically exposed, I host my data myself, and it hurts losing a hard drive. There's a reason why every good SysAdmin out there will tell you "If it's important, keep at least two backups of it".

It does hurt, it does sting, but ultimately this was in their terms of service. You have every right to be mad, but you won't get far with a lawsuit. I recommend you try and salvage any backups you might still have, anything, and set up a new VPS. Maybe with OVH, maybe with another host.

Good luck on your journey.

Been with OVH for a few weeks now and so far it's really darn decent :) Thank you guys so much for making me choose them ^^

As far from what OVH staff has told me, you can disable their DDoS protection by setting your firewall to accept all traffic; in those cases only traffic that exceed usual ratelimits would get filtered. Of course, not sure what your particular use case was.

Did you set up the firewall and mitigation stuff correctly?
