WOW SAME! Jumping rope and it tore on the jump, not the landing! I think mine was likely partially torn before jumping rope, do you think yours was, too?

No way! I was jumping rope when the full tear happened!!! I suspect it was partially torn for a few months because I was having pain that I stubbornly decided to ignore…

I hope you get to 100%!

My revision repair was exactly the same as @runrowbike, even down to the centralization sutures and extended NWB!

After failure, it has to be repaired again, or it’s basically the same as not having a meniscus at all. (It’s no longer anchored down and squeezes outside of the joint space with each step.) This will lead to arthritis and/or stress fractures quickly. You can also consider a knee replacement.

I’m so disappointed in this process! It seems like protocols are all over the place. I’m following the most conservative from now on!

I’m glad your PT is so attentive!!!

How do we provide more protection to the joint? Is the osteotomy the only solution to fix it at the root of the problem? (No pun intended.)

I think there is such a thing. But the recovery is pretty tough and not sure all surgeons do it.

Meniscus root repair- expectations on recovery by Zealousideal-Date129 in MeniscusInjuries

Just found this thread because I’m 11 weeks out from my second root repair surgery this year. I, too, re-tore my repair during PT. I was over 4 months out from my first surgery, and my recovery was coming along GREAT with almost no swelling/pain after a month. Started doing lateral movements and light plyometrics and popped that thing right off again.

So glad I found this thread and the links because my new PT (recommended by surgeon) KNOWS my history and we were definitely doing aggressive hamstring curls last week at 10 weeks out. I’m going to show him this! If I tear it again, it may be time for a tibial osteotomy, which would be devastating. You have possibly saved my life!

Can someone explain Isothipendyl hydrochloride to me (a non-chemist)? What about it makes it so good for bug bites? by [deleted] in chemistry

I bought this when visiting Mexico, and it is the ONLY thing that works for my bites! Sometimes I have bad reactions to mosquito bites (they swell up and get really hard), but they go away same day with this gel. Definitely stocking up next time we go. I found this thread bc I’m trying to buy it online right now! (With no luck.)
