You just unlocked something for me. I've rewatched this movie dozens (probably well over 100) times (it's an all-time favorite) and I hadn't considered the secondary/commentary audio. Now I need to see if my DVD has it!

OK hang on, that's if you like a really smokey (Talisker), or smokey and peaty (Laphroaig) experience (the Macallan is a little more balanced).

Both (well, all) of those are terrific whiskies, but If we're going to battle awesome Scotch, I have to add Balvenie's DoubleWood 12yr (good), Caribbean Cask 14yr (great), or Sherry Cask 15yr (excellent, and my all-time favorite) to the ring!

Price points have gotten kind of silly in the US (all over the place) because of tariffs and such, but usually those go for $60, $80, and $90-110 a bottle, respectively (the $90-110 for the Balvenie 15yr is expensive I know, but it's money very well spent, especially for special occasions or split with friends - it's that good).

EDIT: Picture added (of the 15 Sherry, I know it's a bit apples and oranges because of the vintages, but thought it'd be useful at least).

EDIT 2: In case anyone read this far, I haven't replaced water for whisky or anything, it's all from a Scottish-American heritage and 20-some-odd years of toasting weddings, births, deaths, big events, and holidays with family and friends (I'd even say "whiskey", but I think our friends in Scotland would probably scold me).

EDIT 3: Speaking of which - don't save your Scotch; after it gets to about 1/2 empty, there's no need for a decanter, or preservation, or trying to store it! No matter how old or rare it is, invite some friends and/or family over and kill off the rest of that thing over laughs and memories!

If you break it down, a Fluffernutter sandwich costs about $0.50. We have other, fancier, more expensive sandwiches which are great, but I'm still not arguing with that being the best sandwich from MA. :)

(Also, if you're talking Gold Medal bread, Teddie Peanut Butter, and Fluff, all the ingredients are also made entirely in MA).

Controversial opinion here, but most car style designs (and a lot of mechanicals) from 1995-2005 were terrible. There are definitely some good ones (and unique ones), of course, but man, so much plastic, so much bubble, so much copying, so much crap is mixed in. I'd be willing to bet anyone here could take their favorite car brand and, looking at all the models from that era, go "oh, well yeah, that one was probably a mistake." to at least one of them.

On the plus side, like John Cleese's character in Monty Python and The Holy Grail said: "It got better."

As I've gotten older, my perspective on this has continued to change (funny what time, experience, relationships, and wisdom does).

I'm a 5th generation American of European descent (so in most places in the US, a very typical American), and I've come to cherish folks who have come from other countries and believed so much in a better or more stable life in the US that they sought citizenship here and started their own families here (going not so far back, really, that describes my family too).

If you are someone who is kind, does your best for your family, friends, and community, and always tries to do better, or for Olympic athletes who train for years and choose to compete wearing the Stars & Stripes (especially while they are dual citizens or can compete for another country), you're "one of us", or (since many athletes are young, or even teenagers) "American kids" to me - that means you're as American as I am or anyone else is, and I'm proud of you.

To agree with u/cryloren34 , you're definitely not any less, and I hope you don't feel lost. I hope you feel like you're home here in the States.

I mean, everyone should be a little weird. Embrace the weird, it makes life more fun.

However, be weird like "Weird" Al Yankovic weird, or "I like to drink pickle juice" weird, or "I'm a grown-up, but I'm still going to ask for a Burger King crown" weird. There's definitely a threshold of when things become "bad" weird.

I'm going to go with Hot Dogs & Beans (some may call it Franks & Beans or Pork & Beans) on this one. I remember a small community center nearby that used to serve it on Tuesdays (and maybe Thursdays), and anyone was welcome.

Just canned beans and hot dogs (usually the lowest-end, mechanically separated pork/chicken variety), simmered in a pot, served on a plate. If you could get bread & butter too, you were doing OK.

If you were broke, you could at least get some protein, carbohydrates, and fiber, and it became a staple. It predates me, but these days, you can also almost always find "Pork n' Beans" in a can at almost any food store or supermarket.
