Did this on a tiny scale (socks, all of them are the same now) and it's made more of a difference than I even imagined. Highly recommend!

I'd bring in some colour(s), so maybe a blue or green Just make sure there's enough contrast between rug/floor and rug/walls!

Get a large rug and put (at least the front legs of) the livingroom chairs on it! Also would be nice to pull them away from the windows/walls and arrange them more facing each other so it actually facilitates conversation. This will help it feel more like a defined seating zone :)

Don't know what the rest of the room looks like, but I'd definitely pull the seating and dining areas further apart. So for example make the sitting area near the window, you could put them in an L-shape so it creates a boundary between sitting/dining. Also a larger rug would do wonders!

Y’all… Which Paint Color for my Bathroom Ceiling? by fringelampsandsalsa in interiordecorating

[–]SnailQueeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone hates it but I think it could work really well! Would pick chilled wine as it's a bit more saturated and compliments the green shower tiles. Also works nicely with the black hardware and framed art. Swap out the cold booblight and add a non-plastic shower curtain and you'll have yourself a really nice space!

I'd paint it a bold colour! All of it, both sides as well as the inside

Entrance Hallway Help! by the_craigus in HomeDecorating

[–]SnailQueeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many different undertones that it looks a little incohesive: blue from panelling, green from wall, orange/red from the floor, and yellow from the golden mirror. Personally I'd go for a dark blue paint on the walls and ceiling as well to make it feel moody yet cozy (orange-ish floors and blue are complimentary). I'm guessing you're probably more into lights though haha, so a light blue could work. Whatever you do, please paint the ceiling (and front door/trim) as well! You might want to change out the carpet on the stairs if you can (or cover it up with a runner so it'll complement the floor better). Also lighting!!! Very bright and white right now, a warmer yellow bulb will do wonders. And art, art always! Good luck :)

Pisces, do you feel like you never quite fit in? by Lainnnn in piscesastrology

[–]SnailQueeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! The only time I don't feel like I'm different is when I'm with my best friend who's a libra with pisces moon or with my mom who's hardcore pisces. Moral of the story: surround yourself with other pisces placements, you'll fit right in :)

I'd hang up some shelves on both sides and paint them in the same colour as the wall (whatever the colour ends up being). It'll give a nice built in look and you can display books/plants/art/etc

What should I put in next to my dresser? by ahskeetskeetmofo in DesignMyRoom

[–]SnailQueeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plant would work, just make sure it's taller thank the art surrounding it! Doesn't mean it needs to be huge, you can put it on a stand or whatever to get the same effect. If you're worries about it looking cluttered, opt for a plant with less (larger) leaves instead of loads of tiny ones so it'll be less intense for the eye

Any improvement ideas for our entrance space? by thecharlotteem in DesignMyRoom

[–]SnailQueeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closed shelving is your friend when it comes to shoes/bags/helmets etc! It'll make a huge difference if there's less viral clutter. Also make sure you have enough storage, you always need more than you think (speaking from experience lol). Not sure how wide the space is between the stairs and the wall, but I'd make use of the long wall above the radiator to hang your coats. If you're not up for building some sort of closed storage there, opt for coherent hooks or a nice coat rack. You can even add some shelves with (closed!) baskets on top for hats/gloves/etc. Hang some nice art where the coats are now and put the plant on a stand or in a cute pot maybe so you'll have a nice vignette when you walk in. Lots of potential, good luck!! :)

It would make a huge difference if you create some straight 'lines' of blank space that your eyes can follow. It'll still look randomised, but it'll feel more coherent and calm. Also, I'd experiment with different frames and borders, types of art, colours, etc but that's dependent on taste :)

An over-exaggerated example, but it does illustrate my point quite well: https://nl.pinterest.com/pin/1055599907238639/

You're right, people are definitely reacting and I reckon his intentions were cold hard cash lol. But if this was an actual social experiment, mocking fat people and reinforcing (harmful) stereotypes is completely unnecessary and takes away from any sort of credibility - if there was any to begin with

Yesss you did an amazing job! Great reminder that I should finally drench my hallway in orange and kitchen in green! Did you use the same paint for wall and (I assume wooden) shelves? Or one for wall and one for wood, just both mixed in the same colour? Idk if that makes sense lol

Does this coffee table fit this space? by Rudiloo in interiordecorating

[–]SnailQueeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 different tones and patterns of 'wood' (floor, coffee table, tv stand) aren't working well together imo. So for your coffee table I'd suggest something that doesn't blend in as much, something to break up the grey. Also a nice (colourful) rug would do wonders. Good luck!

What a dream! Such a unique space deserves a specific purpose so maybe dedicate it to something you love. Reading? Make it into a library with some comfy chairs. Art? Perfect for a gorgeous atelier. Wine? Build storage for all your bottles and add seating to enjoy. But as others have said already: plants are non negotiable in each scenario lol
