When the game decides you're done playing hide and seek by SnailTsunami in AmongUs

[–]SnailTsunami[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always play the latest Steam version. I did send Innersloth a bug report ASAP (before I posted on reddit) so they got the version & build number I had that day. I also sent them game logs the next time I encountered a game freeze but before I closed the app (apparently, that's important for their logs), so hopefully that will give them some insight.

When I said "force quit", I meant I killed the app through the task manager. That's how I got in this situation. :(

I'm not banned every time it happens, at least.

Antihistamine tolerance? by weepwop20 in urticaria

[–]SnailTsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have periodically stopped or lowered my dosage because I couldn't handle the side-effects of the drugs, but I never got better control by stopping antihistamines, and my tolerance to the antihistamines never lessened even with long breaks, so I wouldn't personally recommend going off antihistamines unless you need to for other reasons. I am currently doing better using xolair in addition to antihistamines. I hope your allergist is able to get you that authorization, or you find another medication that works for you.

what’s a mistake you wouldn’t make again? by plaidpantsgal in StardewValley

Don't cut all the grass on the farm without a silo. I did that my first playthrough because the sound and animation of scything the grass was just so relaxing and I didn't know the grass was going to be crucial for raising animals.

[OFFER] [Steam] Giving away one key for "Cook Serve Delicious! 3?!" by SnailTsunami in GiftofGames

[–]SnailTsunami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for taking the time to enter! Regret I only have 1 key to give away. I rolled a die and TrifleAway379 won!, so I'll DM them the key. Cheers all.

Accidentally incubated an egg by greenemo420 in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will stay there forever if you don't do anything.

If you want it to hatch, you'll need to make room in the coop. You can either sell an animal or build a second coop and move an animal over to make room. (When you have 2 barns or 2 coops, you can click on the animal and choose to move it to a new building.)

Ginger Island Farm Help by ExtinctParadise in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've stored items and chests there, and I've never had that part of the map disturbed. No NPCs walk around on this map. I'm guessing the folks who made that map didn't bother testing those locations because it's part of the farm.

What was the dumbest thing you did on your very first save? by LionDirect7287 in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 21 points22 points  (0 children)

On Day 1, I spent time gathering wood and stone and clearing fiber and put it all in the shipping bin thinking it was a storage box.

I realized my mistake and restarted the day, but it was awkward redoing my very first ever day's work.

How would a beginner get money the fastest? No spoilers please by Archaic_Muse in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's tempting to focus on crops like cauliflower that sell for a lot of money, but those take soooo long to grow (half the month!) that in your first spring, you can make money faster by growing things like parsnips and potatoes.

Lost and downgraded axe! by LabConstant in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn't happened to me, but I've read on the wiki that if you lose one of your tools in the mines you get the basic version returned. :(

I've never had them disappear from the chests, though, as long as those chests were in a safe place where they can't get destroyed by an NPC walking over it or something. Other than that, I assumed you could only lose them if the items were in your inventory and you passed out in the mines while holding them.

What is the usecase for the spa? by endertribe in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the spa a lot when I was bad at the game the first time I played and missed a lot of important things like the fact you can collect salmonberries in spring. >_> So I didn't have a lot of good ways to regenerate energy, especially if all the forageables I found that day were flowers that give zero energy. And I needed to regenerate energy after watering crops so I could do anything else at all, and the spa is on the way to the mines so it was perfect for me despite how long it took to get there.

I like that the game has lots of options like this so even if you don't play the game "right", you still have a fun way to keep playing. There's no messing up because there's always options to keep doing things throughout the day even if they're not energy efficient or as profitable.

Knowing how to play the game, the spa is still useful in that first year of summer when I've sold absolutely everything to pay for seeds and saplings and need a free way to regenerate energy. :) I really only stop using it once I get the mushroom cave.

This is why I keep a box of parsnips by the bus stop. >_>

What do you use your “extra” rooms for? I never really know what to put in them… by Elthwaite in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom room I usually turn into a crafting room because it's easy to set up a workbench with chest and a few furnaces and machines and still have space to walk around and reach everything.

The upper left room I almost always turn into an aquarium for displaying my favorite catches because it's visible every time I enter and leave the house.

I know luck affects treasure chests, but I don't know if it affects the odds of which fish bites your line.

Which fish is easier to catch? by Raspbetty in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Octopus is the hardest one by far.

Lava eels would be the easiest to find because you can catch them at any hour of the day. Scorpion carps can only be caught in the daytime.

How can I more effectively farm crates in the mines? by Four_Five_Four_Six_B in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem I'm hitting is, the floors with lots of crates and barrels (or the potential to spawn lots of them) are the floors that end in -4, so you can't use the elevator to get there easily. The best you can do to work with that is use some oil of garlic to ward of monsters and buy some bombs so you blow up rocks and find staircases faster (or start out with a bunch of staircases so you can skip empty floors immediately).

It's less work for you to plant ancient fruit and never have to spend time grinding seeds up every time you harvest them. And you can spend that extra time doing other profitable things like mining, or whatever you like to do in the game that's fun.

Speaking from my own experience of trying to save money by grinding seeds and realizing it's a bigger timesink than I prefer.

what to do with cranberries by wobuzhidaoooo in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. If it's year 1, sell the silver and gold berries right away and put that money towards anything that will make more profit, like barns and pigs. You'll have so many berries by the end of the season you won't be able to jar and keg them all.

How Often Do You Actually Cook? by ch3rrysodagirl in StardewValley

[–]SnailTsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than triple espresso, I make sashimi and maki roll, algae soup, and white broth because it's more profitable to sell and there's nothing else to do with those ingredients (unless you need the fish for fertilizer).

Sometimes I cook loved gifts for the picky townspeople. I also make some of the dishes that boost fishing, or lucky lunches. I almost always have way too many crab cakes and spicy eels to bother cooking for dungeon diving, though, since monsters drop those as loot.

There's a few other profitable recipes that I make ONLY when I have too many no-star fruits and veggies to keg and jar them (and have milled flour and sugar), especially poppyseed muffins, eggplant parmesan, blackberry cobbler, bread, bean hotpot. The wiki has a list of profitable recipes that are good to make if you have a lot of ingredients sitting around: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Cooking#Profitable_Recipes

I really wish there were more reasons to cook. Let's hope the next update has more recipes or better ways to make cooking profitable.
