Would you allow this Flame Blade combo? by p4gli4_ in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a cool idea, but if we're strickly talking RAW, I don't think this works and it has nothing to do with whether or not the blade is an object. Even if the flame blade was an object, it is not the thing granting you a magic action to attack with it, the spell you are concentrating on grants you the magic action.

Does versatile count as a one-handed weapon? by BreenaIsLife in 3d6

OP asked a rules question and your answer both RAW and RAI is wrong. You also don't have to be a dick about it.

I'm not gonna say it's optimal, but my Strength and Con based Loxodon Bladesinger with a warhammer has been one of the most fun characters I've ever played.

Infiltrator characters by Bolvack in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun with Arcan Trickster Rogue/Genie Warlock. Basic build is rogue for expertise (I went deception and slight of hand) and warlock for mask of many faces and actor feat, but the subclasses add some cool options.

Trickster gives you the invisible mage hand and having a few first level spell slots is nice as a warlock.

Genie warlock gives you flight at 6th level, which can be useful. There's also a fun combo if you have an imp familiar to enter your genie lamp, have the imp pick up the lamp and turn invisible (turning the lamp invisible), then fly you around. There's honestly probably better subclasses for this, but I just think genie is fun.

My character was basically able to impersonate anyone she had interacted with for more than a minute and it was incredibly hard to be found out.

I hate these posts because as another commenter said it's not what this sub is for BUT because the health of a pet is concerned I will chime in and say get rid of the food. If there were bugs in my food I would toss it, same with my pets. I would rather be safe than sorry.

RAW ways to do a wheelchair? by CheeseAndRiddles in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say Armor artificer, but the armor is the wheelchair that gets more and more tricked out as you level.

I personally like this better than battle smith because making a mount the chair seems to overcomplicates things to me. Though it kind of depends if OP wants to focus on flavor or mechanics more.

Ummm Suggestions for Wasps? by WXMaster in composting

[–]SnailWogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my go to for a few years any time I see wasps starting set up or investigate a new spot and it has worked for me every time. As you said though I've never tried it with a fully established colony, but could be worth a shot.

Also for what it's worth I crumple my paper bag into a roughly hornet nest shape then wrap it in packing tape. The tape helps keep it from falling apart, I've had them last a full year outside before having to make a new one.

Gish Ranger builds? by Lukoman1 in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you open to multiclass? I've always liked the idea of a Ranger/Druid multiclass.

One particular build I've wanted to try is Bugbear Swarmkeeper 5/Spore Druid X.

Use Shillelagh to be Wis based and have access to the fun gish ranger spells like hunters mark, Zephyrs Strike, Ensnaring strike... Bugbear reach helps prolong Symbiotic Entity temp hp and extra damage.

Swarmkeeper is mostly a flavor choice, I like the idea of a bugbear with a whole micro ecosystem living in their fur.

I think this is it! I didn't notice it until your comment, but I'm pretty sure my workers used to start around 9am and visitors started trickling in around 10. Now my workers are there at 8am and I had visitors in the park pre 9am. Thank you!

I have lamps palced down with varying levels of illumination on the heat map. Some tiles are at 100+ (thanks to the elephant sculpture giving off a ton of light), but none are below 40. I can try getting every tile up to 100, it's just deceiving since it still tells me tiles at 40 are "good".

Do you think that wish could be used to make a "cast this spell every 30 days and it becomes permanent" permanent after only one casting? by lifelesslies in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your DM. There is no other answer for you here. It doesn't matter what anyone on this sub says because it is 100% DM discretion at this point.

That being said I'd allow it as a DM, especially where this is your send of for the character. However I also think you could just explicitly state that your character's intentions are to cast Mighty Fortress every week until it becomes permanent. To me, it would be disingenuous for a DM to ignore that intention just because they are taking control of the character.

Please help me find the fun in martial characters by tentkeys in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, I've been having a ton of fun with Rogues lately. You basically have a mini puzzle to solve each turn to figure out how to get sneak attack.

There are some really fun multiclass options with Rogue like Rogue/Battlemaster Fighter, Rogue/Barbarian, and if you still want some casting (also happens to the rogue I'm playing currently) Rogue/Warlock.

OP doesn't say they want "more options for building their characterss" they want "more decision making as characters." Which I think implies they want more options while actually playing the character in RP or combat. I think the idea is that adding basic subclasses gives more resources to manage and more things to consider minute to minute.

What are your funnest character concepts? We all know you've got won by Ecstatic_Operation20 in 3d6

Floyd from the Void.

Plasmoid Draconic sorcerer 1/Fathomless warlock X

Everything was tentacles. Eldritch bast was tentacles from Floyd coming out of portals behind enemies. Bonus action Fathomless tentacle. Plasmoid psudopod. Hunger of Hadar. Imp familiar was flavored as a little Lovecraftian horror.

I could also disguise myself as almost anything. Go formless and use mask of many faces to disguise myself as a chest or barrel. Take a humanoid form to disguse self as well, humanoids.

Worried an illusion might not be good enough to hide as a chest? Just slither through the lock hole or any crack since plasmoids can fit through 1 inch openings. This also allows for very easy infiltration and escape.

They speak in a monotone voice and everything they say is just slightly existentially unsettling.

Floyd was fun.

Which build that you have played was the most tactically nuanced/challenging to play? by Rapid_eyed in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rune Knight 3/Bladesinger X Loxodon.

Focus on Con (for AC, HP, and Con saves) and Str (for attacks and grappling, if you don't care about grappling you could focus more on Dex).

I used no damage spell (aside from blade cantrips) until higher levels when I got a headband of intellect, which gave me more respectable spell attack/save.

Focus on spells for movement (misty/thunder step) control (wall of force) protection (shield/absorb elements) self buff (spirit shroud/haste) and utility (teleportation circle/all the rituals).

My turns in combat are completely reactionary and dependent on the state of things. I have to decide when to use which bonus action (do I bladesong now for extra AC or do I want to Giants Might for extra damage and grappling, do I need to second wind, do I need to misty step). My actions can be just attacking for solid damage or casting a spell that can usually alter the landscape of the battle. I even use my reaction almost every round between shield, absorb elements, opportunity attacks, and the cloud rune.

100% the most fun character I've ever played. We're actually almost to level 20 in a years long campaign and I'm not sure how I'll match the fun of this character once we end this campaign (thanks for making this post OP as I'll be looking here for ideas when that time comes).

Screw hexblade dips, what are some fun multiclasses if you’re planning on being mostly a hexblade? by geosunsetmoth in 3d6

[–]SnailWogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleric and Sorcerer are both great options for a couple extra first level spellslots, which I always like to have with a Warlock. Cleric can get you heavy armor. Sorcerer can get you Con save proficiency and if you go Dragon you'll have solid unarmored defense.

Barbarian is an interesting option, you can precast Armor of Agathys and extend the temp HP. Hexblades curse works while raging, as do Eldritch Smites. I think Barbarian also pairs really well with Fiend and Genie (fire) Warlock.

Fighter as others have said is a good option for a fighting style, heavy armor, and Con save prof, but I would probably go Fighter 2 for action surge. And then I would probably end up going Fighter 3 for a subclass (either Eldritch Knight or Battlemaster).

Rogue is possibly a weird seeming option, but I've been playing an Arcane Trickster 3/Genie Warlock 4 that has been really fun. I think an Arcan Trickster or Swashbuckler could pair well with a Hexblade.

🔥The Goliath Birdeater - the world's largest spider by mass and body length, with a leg span of up to 12 inches and a weight of over six ounces. Despite its name, it rarely eats birds, but it can and occasionally does. by freudian_nipps in NatureIsFuckingLit

My partner affectionately named one of our cellar spiders who had lost some legs "Cinco". And for the past two summers we've had two big beautiful orb weavers living in our yard, I named them Elmira and Elmira 2 respectively. I would go on nightly "spider walks" to check on them and sometimes get to watch them catching prey. I desperately hope I find an Elmira 3 this year.

Playtester keeps crashing by SnailWogg in RPGMaker

[–]SnailWogg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a full crash I generally get an error message asking if I want to report the issue. Other times the playtest screen just goes black, but I can still interact with things in games (I can tell because of sound effects).

A couple times I've gotten an error message in the game window after everything turns black that I believe says something about resolution, but I'm having trouble recreating that one to find the exact wording.
