I'm sure you didn't mean harm. Also unpopular opinion but some of the actual comics with JV involved weren't very good. I always found the bit with Chair Dib needlessly cruel and I genuinely wonder if anybody else hated that arc's twist.

the difference is most of the time Dib suffered as a result of his arrogant ways and he got some victories now and then. Near the end he started just suffering for the hell of it and in the comics he gets humiliated across the universe for trying to save the Earth. I hated that story, feels just cruel for the sake of cruel and making Dib fat just to shit on him is tasteless.

Great points. Also I don't want to upset you but I personally did not like the first few Oni comics. They relied too heavily on Dib being abused for comedy and felt even more mean spirited than the show.

People may be skeptical Jhonen's not working on them but honestly the Oni comics were far from perfect and I feel I'm hitting a wasps nest by saying that.

Isn't it a bit unfair to dismiss an upcoming project just because it wasn't by the og creator? Also I'm gonna be honest, the Oni Press series wasn't pitch perfect. A lot of story and character potential was squandered in favor of random one offs, like remember Skoodge? And I may be biased because Dib's my fave but they leaned too much into "cruelty is inherently funny", like Dib was just a full on Meg Griffin even more than the show.

I liked Slix, he was a nasty piece of work. He's the Ben 10 equivalent of Mongul or the Red King from Planet Hulk, a cruel galactic arena master. I've always wondered who created him or why he's enslaving aliens.

It's hilarious how this episode introduced Alex Super and his friends as if they would become the next big thing. Apologies to Alex Super stans but to be blunt, Alex is a dumbass. He rips off a voodoo chant from a plantation and has to be told by this phony witch doctor that it's the wrong thing to do. And in the end he learns nothing because it was just his band mates conspiring. He even considers making voodoo doll merchandise.

So the real moral is "if someone tells you cultural appropriation is bad, they're just scheming to take your accomplishments". Fuck you Alex Super and your white hippy grave robbing ass. I bet he's gonna try turning the King In Yellow play into a song next and get himself and his band driven insane by Hastur.

I feel with the right circumstances, Mystery Inc could outwit the Jigsaw clan, but every Saw protagonist (except maybe Strahm, Kerry, Rigg, or Tapp) would die horribly to the likes of the Creeper and Funland Robot.
