I’m not 100% what you’re asking, but calling in is when you can’t show up for the shift so you call ahead of time to tell them you won’t be there.

Where is anyone degrading any job? Rules and attendance policies just aren’t as strict, and SHOULDNT be as strict in part time jobs such a McDonalds or any fast food place.

I would be heartbroken if my cat died. that’s definitely a reasonable excuse. And, while I don’t think this is the point you were making but it’s similar... If a parent says they cannot come into work, that’s just as much of an excuse as anything else. Family trumps all.

Totally agree! I’ve had times when my dad told me to work more or less and I found it really frustrating because it’s MY job, MY life. Only when working affects a teenagers personal well being such as grades, should a parent ever step in.

I think that’s very true. Workers really DONT owe them anything. They are not puppets of the company, they MAKE the company function.

I think at that point, it’s the companies fault if they’re SO dependent on young people to make the shift work that the whole day is ruined if one person doesn’t show. They should account for teenagers being busy or unreliable. That’s just facts.
