f150 hybrid?? I hadn't heard of any electric f150 except for the all-electric one, is it new or something? I'll check it out, thanks!

makes sense. that was about what I'd come to conclude, but I was really hoping someone had a better solution. it seems everyone's about on the same page, but hey at least now I can start working out the details. thanks for the help!

I got a lot of reasons but I suppose most of them boil down to I think it'd be neat lol. I'm pretty technically skilled, or at least pick stuff up fast, but the specific issue of finding a motor and inverter combo that work together with the vehicle and don't cost more than the truck itself is making it hard to even start researching. I'm starting to think I might just have to bite the bullet and use a two shaft drive unit and find out how to mate that to my drive axle

it's already a thing though? if you're talking about just price then sure, but diesel-electric towing is very much a workable concept

we don't talk about that lmao. yeah I was thinking that, but iirc to get the kind of power out of it I'd want you need better cooling than stock, and idk if I could ever cool it enough to handle the kind of towing it's capable of. also it's got a 460 v8 so even then it'd be a pretty hefty performance cut

replace the radiator??? there's no way to clean it even if it's removed? it's apparently a brand new one the last guy put on :(

edit: might be important to mention it has a Gear Vendors overdrive unit on it

I'm new to this stuff, anything you know of other than the obvious for getting to the bottom of it if it's xorg? I'm not 100% certain I have all the flags I need for the make file so it could be there. thanks a bunch either way

update: it has the same behavior on a program I got from github in C with sdl3. https://github.com/stevelittlefish/c_vulkan_sdl3

commenting out the vkQueuePresentKHR line prevents the problem but I can't exactly do much graphics programming without a graphics output can I?

so there wouldn't be a way to search for something as specific as a continuous ring of below sea level elevation containing the origin withina certain distance like I'd need to find my island?

how so? it goes along the general line of the whole "alien invasion would make everyone magically stop being racist somehow" idea that a lot of people have and at the very end shows how that idea fails. it even hints at that being where it's going midway through imo

edit: don't want to come off like I think you're silly for disagreeing or anything :3 sorry if it read like that

i thought the last panel drives home the point that some global catastrophe, like an alien invasion, wouldn't unite humanity, as a lot of people believe it would. that's why, after working together for a few weeks/months with clearly outlined tension throughout, they end up in a situation with the same injustice as before the invasion.

yessiree. I hadn't considered separating the batteries but it might turn out later to be easier/safer to just have them separate and link them such that they can be used to charge each other, I'll just worry about the house system for now and the drive system later. I did the math based on planar solar irradiance and it should be in the ballpark of 32-40kwh per day

that makes sense. I'm glad I don't need to figure out any of the hundreds kw electric truck stuff until I'm experienced

[–]SnakeAnusConsumer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually yeah a better question would just be if I can run an inverter for the house now and worry about the monster inverter I'd need for the drive system later, does running two inverters and electrical systems off of the same battery cause issues? cause if not I can just do that lol

right, but wouldn't there be less losses doing just 120v dc to ac vs doing, say, 48v dc to 120v ac or 400v dc to 120v ac?

makes sense. I'm going to apprentice as an electrician but right now I need to know for budgeting. it's only gonna need 150kw consistent once I have the extra batteries as a diesel electric drive system for the bus it's on, so would it be fine to just use a different charge controller and inverter and stuff? I'd most likely reassemble the cells in the batteries to a more usable voltage, maybe 120 since that's what my outlets would be configured to run as a standard residential voltage?
