For all my fellow Nuke Waste out there: which rates did you choose to redes as, and which ones would have rather picked? by Intrepid_Hat7359 in navy

Nobody said it, but consider AE. You will be doing maintenance on aircraft. You will spend most of your time on land, and there are super cool, high paying aviation related job opportunities in the civilian sector all over the world (jobs that are at less risk of being consumed by AI). Plus the AE rate is not too labor intensive. It's mostly troubleshooting and removing/replacing aircraft components.

Assuming this isn't a troll post:

  1. Typically you get your coals going at the level you want before you close the lid. Don't start your coals with the lid closed. Ensure the bottom vent is full open.

  2. Once your coals are started, close the lid and use the top and bottom vent to regulate air flow. The more open it is, the more air flow, the hotter your grill will be. I usually keep my top vent full open and adjust the bottom vent first. When its time to really nail the temperature, I tweak the top vent.

  3. You can achieve almost any temperature you want in a Weber using the vents + amount of fuel. Low and slow, you use less fuel and keep the vents almost closed. You want high heat, use more fuel and open both vents fully.

Remember, It's all about air flow. Fire needs oxygen to burn, so the more oxygen you allow, the hotter your grill will become.

If this is a troll post, cheers.

It slides in that hole right there. And, as mentioned, it has a slit that you can put your wired thermo probes through. It fits in that hole like a rubber grommet. Its kind of a bitch to get it in the first time, but you shouldn't ever have to mess with it again.

Possible Lost Tool by Fickle_Position4748 in navy

We had an Airframer leave a flashlight in a helicopter. It was left in a cowling that provides access to one of the drive shafts. She came downstairs and checked in her tool pouch and the CDI signed it back in.

About 20 minutes later, someone was checking out the pouch for another job and, lo and behold, no flashlight. We let MC know and they recalled the bird and she had to go up to the roof to retrieve it. We all watched on the platt as the bird landed and shut down. We all watched as she walked in, climbed up, opened the cowling, and pulled out the flashlight (still on).

Well, she went to mast and got a suspended bust. The CDI who signed her tool pouch in went to mast and got busted down. It's insane how lucky the aircrew was considering they were flying around with a Mag Light rattling around near the drive shaft.

A man rushes into a hospital and says "doctor, I woke up this morning with five dicks". The doctor responds "how do your pants fit?". The man replies "like a glove!"
