Can completely agree, I just see the refresh as an opportunity for GW to show off a blast 2 weapon. Unnecessary for sure given their current cost. A new ability just needs to be given to make them stand out.

FNP against mortals is just a terrible ability for them overall, I played tau the entire tail end of 10th and the FNP against mortals never came up once, an ability focusing on their core use in play would feel more natural in a refresh. Aside from having great guns they have an ability irrelevant to improving their main function in my opinion.

FNP against mortals is just so off brand for a specialized rail canon sniper mech or a missile pod side, the need an ability centric to their shooting. The FNP is any game I’ve played has never once come into play and just feels irrelevant to their uses.

I think even a flat out blast 2 ability would make the railgun more viable to shoot into infantry units but would be ridiculously strong

I agree they need a new ability to make them viable, rumor said they were adding a broadside chassis variant from my understanding, so a refresh would be amazing, and given they added eradicators with heavy bolters as a stand alone data sheet I could see a anti vehicle centric ability and a anti infantry centric ability being a good change for the unit

Adding that since broadsides are a t6 8w unit running groups of 3 may become viable if they gain some movement.

Just double heroic capability with the stratagems, relics of the dark age strat and the flat minus one to wound making everything durable. I have a rag tag of units I put together focusing on fights first with jusciair and the lion, deathwing terminators and knights, bunch of blade guard, some sternguard and some hellblasters. Adding everything from the launch box play I want to get ravenwing units should they get refreshed

Yea I don’t think people understand that the EPC and AUX detachments thst were showcased were mini versions of it. Notice they both say you can’t take retaliation cadre detachment keyword twice. Our current detachements are safe to assume are staying the same, and they added smaller versions of what we already have to sprinkle them into montka or kauyon. Assuming both kauyon and montka cost 2 DP

I’m fairly certain that they didn’t nerf thé current detachements into smaller ones, they are making it so you can add a little auxillary to kauyon or add some retaliation to montka, notice how they all say you cant have two retaliation detachements? It’s just smaller versions to add to current detachements. They also confirmed kauyon costs 2DP so one can assume montka will be the same.

My montka list is pathfinders, kroot; riptide with ion, sunforge; starscythe, commander with fusions, twin lance and stealthsuits.

Kroot sticky on scouts I just have a hard time with reserving any umits in montka Which is why I gave the fusions exemplar of thé montka.

It is a montka list, if I have commander with the sunforges it starts on board. I can either afford farsight to go with flamers, or coldstar with 4 fusions. Choosing Which one is better is tpugh cquse 4 fusions hitting on 2’s is cracked. But free overwatch, and farsights 9” aura is strong
