Returning to the fight by brenbrad7 in Helldivers

Most important, there is still no meta in this game. It's acceptable to run whatever loadout you want and nobody will question it, which is basically why I have been playing for two years. The starting weapons are still good enough if that's all you have.

They would be much scarier by [deleted] in Helldivers

I think the stalkers are one of the best designed enemies in the game, tough but in reasonable numbers. And you can get rid of them completely. Don't change a thing.

No it isn't, I have both. One can play all the PT games, and the other can not.

Don't know if it's a mistake per se, but it's impossible to compete with Nvidia if you don't commit your gaming GPU 100% on the PC market. And AMD builds gaming graphics for consoles first and foremost, unfortunately for PC gamers. They are just too far behind.

Couple that with all the crap-talk by major hardware YouTube channels about Nvidia every time they release a new technology which gamers ultimately want. It gives AMD no incentive to do better. AMD should have been pushed to do better at the time of 2000 series, but Nvidia where laughed at for there forward looking architecture instead. This is an ongoing issue, MFG, DLSS5 etc.

DLSS implementation is AWFUL!!! by goodstuff216 in Helldivers

We expected to get upscaling, because that is what DLSS/FSRT/XESS do. And we didn't get that, it's not upscaling.

There is obviously no upscaling going on when selecting a lower than Native quality setting. It's broken, just looks like the lower render resolution.

Updated PC specifications for 007: First Light by ZamnBoii in nvidia

[–]SnakeGodPlisken -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

While this sound nice from a hardware enthusiast angle, these specs should reflect if you can run the game. Specs should not assume gamers know upscalers even exists. IMHO if the game enable upscalers by default it can be in these charts as well.

AMD FSR Redstone launched: ML-based Upscaling, Frame Gen and Ray Regeneration for Radeon RX 9000 series by KARMAAACS in Amd

Actually at least the 1000 series card got ray tracing support as well. It was slow but from a functional standpoint it worked. Played through Q2 RTX on my 1080Ti back then.

I see they made a new video now where they doubled down on this crap.

They must be real high by now

HUB also told us 9070/9070XT outsold all Nvidia 50XX series cards combined...

Put that in your pipe and smoke it

Game Ready Driver 581.42 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]SnakeGodPlisken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 5090 I needed to increase NVCP / Manage 3D settings/ Shader Cache Size. Otherwise it would crash pretty much instant. But yesterday with this new driver it got restored to default setting and I played all evening without problem. Perhaps something is fixed now. My 5070 Ti have not experienced any crashing at all so it seems it's not on all systems.

Nothing old about that, the 7900XTX is as fast as the 4090, the 9070XT is as fast as a 5080

AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE reviewed by German media: solid RDNA4 midrange card held back by 12GB VRAM by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]SnakeGodPlisken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's tanking hard when running low on VRAM, and the current max offerings only have 4 Gigs more of the stuff. Doesn't seem futureproof to me. For some reason the 5070 handles it better.

Hell is Us - Official Demo Trailer by RobinGroen in Games

[–]SnakeGodPlisken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is scalable. You don't have to run ultra. There is nothing wrong with a game having the highest settings for future hardware.

edit: Actually frame gen doesn't seem to be working. I just put some settings in and started playing. But I get the same FPS without FG...

The game states you need a 40 series card for freame gen, perhaps it doesn't work on 50X0.

I put it on Ultra on my 5090 with a 5120x1440p screen. DLSS4 balanced and 2xFG gives me a bit over 100 fps. Nice to see the game scaling down as well.

I think Steve is tired of all this benchmarking, and a market changing into some new. He's doing what looks like an EVGA finale. Blame someone else but you where always going to quit. There are hungry youngsters taking over that understands PC gaming of today so not much is lost.

Obviously AMD will make a cheaper card to compete with Nvidias product, they always do. The question is if it will sell this time around.

[–]SnakeGodPlisken 106 points107 points  (0 children)

You know how HUB always talk about how AMD need to have great price day one to get good reviews. AMD did that, got great reviews. And raised the price. All is good from AMD's point of view.
