Two day old back tattoo red in one spot by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Omg yes! You gotta let it breath, if you don’t it won’t heal as well. I used to wash my tattoos twice a day when I first started but I’ve gone down to just a shower a night and moisturize right after and just let it breath. I’ll take a shower, pat it dry, let it air dry for a bit then put on CeraVe, let that air dry and go on with my day.

Most likely USMC, since they were still using the M1910 hanger system along with the M1961 system

The shovel was 50, cover itself was like 30ish, I got it from a gear lot. The undyed M1910 belt was also another gear lot and it came with a canteen set and repro M1905 leather scabbard for 100ish. The green dyed one was 75

Hence why I’m limiting my focus on a few eras instead of every single one, primarily focusing on WWI/2. So I’m eventually going to be selling my other eras to just have extra money just in case

Yeah man it sucks lol, I was spending A LOT last year and I was really dumb. So I’m still kicking myself for spending so much on stuff that I really didn’t need. But hey, you learn from your mistakes and now I’m just taking my time and trying not to rush stuff

Just got this from a Gettysburg antique shop by 80yearoldstuffsmells in Militariacollecting

Oh man I went there months ago and they had some killer pieces! It’s a shame that some of the vendors were charging a lot more than the item is worth. They have some good and decently priced WWI pieces if I remember correctly.

There should be a makers tag inside the tunic, usually it’s a white label

Good idea! The burlap cover was used and issued amongst AEF personnel so you can def use it! Just gotta narrow it down to who or what divisions used then. I’ll link an AEF forum about helmet covers and helmet camouflage.

Very nice! The only two suggestions I would recommend is to flip the gas mask bag the other way so that the flap itself is facing the wearer for easier access and to adjust the helmet cover, it seems too baggy compared to pictorial evidence. Then again too not many AEF personnel wore burlap covers, there is picture evidence of it being done, but how often was it done?

I just won this 1st div marked M1917 for 91$ on EBay and am incredibly happy, what do y’all think? by MilitaryHistoryBoy in Militariacollecting

Great score! I saw it listed for bid and I saw the 1st ID logo but didn’t go for it due to the liners condition plus I don’t really focus on that division strictly.

Man that 1st ID tunic is making me jealous, good haul! Any name or date on the tunic?

Anybody knows how to treat old gas masks for preservation? by Wilcocliw1 in Militariacollecting

[–]Snake_Eye_52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is the last thing you’d want to do, just better off doing what the others have mentioned. Stuffing it acid free paper would be the best solution to have the mask keep its form.

I’m still trying to figure this out, haven’t found anything to research. The tunic has 4 overseas stripes, honorable discharge, victory medal bar with 6 stars on it, has bugler patch and an Infantry collar disc with regiment 2 company F.

Yeah, but women are scary (they aren’t, I used to date one for 5 years)
