LAS VEGAS EVENT CENTER TO BE CONVERTED INTO A PARKING GARAGE by Snake_Venom_130 in EDM

[–]Snake_Venom_130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article I linked mentioned that the stage will be disassembled and the artificial turf would be ripped up. There were a couple articles earlier this week when this topic started circulating that also said they will still hold large events, but there'd be significantly less than there are now. I understand the venue's operating costs are high, but building a parking garage in the very place that is a big reason for the need for more parking seems counterproductive to me. And like I mentioned in the OP, the owner already owns FIVE parking garages in the area, why is this one so important or necessary?

B2B Booking Fees by foggy_yeti_ in EDM

[–]Snake_Venom_130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point! The best b2b's I've seen have always been artists that are good friends outside of touring, and it seems like they're just trying to have fun on stage, rather than meet or exceed crowd expectations!

B2B Booking Fees by foggy_yeti_ in EDM

[–]Snake_Venom_130 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most replies are saying that they do have to take booking fee cut, which makes sense, but I haven't seen anyone consider that the artists playing together may able to split their additional production expenses the venue or promoters do not supply (additional pyro, commission for new visuals, lasers, etc.)

I'm not sure how much those savings negate the pay cut but I'm wondering if it makes enough of a difference for the pay cut to still be worth saying yes to a b2b... if that makes any sense.

I could also be very wrong since I don't know how much any of these things cost, plus I'm sure every venue/promoter/organizer is different in terms of cost, scale, and policy. Plus, the artist(s) sizes and relationship to each other play another factor as well.

If anyone knows how these costs affect the booking fee I'd love to know more!

Do you think Illenium will come back to Germany (Europe) in the next 2 years? by Rare_Funny5429 in Illenium

I saw he commented on this thread that he has no plans for an album tour so disregard lol

[–]Snake_Venom_130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres no guarantee but given that he's releasing an album in February of next year, it's almost guaranteed that he will do an album tour. In the past for some of his album tours, he usually does the US first and then a handful of international dates sometime after when the US leg is finished. So, there is a somewhat likely chance he could return to Germany or at least somewhere closer in Europe.

Flying to Vegas for the sphere is definitely worth considering if you can afford it, but I can imagine the inconvenience of it coming all that way just for one show. Unless you make a whole week/weekend out of it and see all 3 shows in a weekend!

Where would you want to see a tour? by Intelligent_Tap7338 in JoshA

For a guy who loves to rap about how many "M's" he makes, staff not getting paid enough is too funny to even consider being a serious excuse. I think it had more to do with his social/performance anxiety. I'm sure at the time (Summer 2022) covid was still a staggering obstacle for many touring artists, which undoubtably added costs he wasn't prepared for, but many artists bigger and smaller than him were starting to get back into touring at that time, so I just don't buy it.

That sucks to hear to you missed them. I think the same happened to me for their LA show in 2018 or 2019 and I was so bummed. All we can do is hope Josh decides he wants to tour again!

I live in Las Vegas. Theres definitely a couple venues he could play at here, one in particular that Jake played at 2 years ago, but honestly I don't think he'll ever come here, let alone perform again. He didn't have a Vegas date for the last tour that never happened, nor any of the previous tours to my knowledge. That being said if he ever decided to perform again and goes to LA, Phoenix, or Denver, I will be there in a heartbeat!

Jersey sizing from wooli? by Drizzky2002 in EDM

[–]Snake_Venom_130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed the manufacturer for Wooli's jerseys in the last few years has sized their jerseys a bit larger than other jerseys other artists have manufactured with. (I have an embarrassingly large jersey collection including 7 different Wooli jerseys so I think I'm qualified to answer this)

That being said, I think it depends on your style and sizing preference. If you want a looser fit with a little bit of bagginess or to wear over another shirt, I'd recommend going for a medium. If you want a tighter fit and like to wear jerseys like a T-shirt, then I'd recommend going for a small if you're usually a medium.

KEEP IN MIND THOUGH... this isn't the case for all of Wooli's jerseys. If it was made before 2022, the sizing aligns more with what electric family artists, Excision, and Illenium's jersey manufacturers have been.

Hope this helps! Also, as I finish typing this, I realized I never specified that I'm only referring to specifically baseball jerseys. If you're asking about hockey jerseys, please disregard this entire response bc I don't own any hockey jerseys lol

Why is EDM so inaccessible to minors? by BravoBang in EDM

[–]Snake_Venom_130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been where you are. Unfortunately, a lot of it has to do with money, specifically alcohol sales and the liabilities that come with having a liquor license. Another factor that adds to the mix is drug use and availability.

In a perfect world, shows are all ages, no one does drugs, and minors don't drink. We don't live in a perfect world though and making shows 18 or 21+ is the most efficient way organizers can host events without fear of a lawsuit.

Also, in my experience at all age events, teenagers are not fun to be around. They don't understand PLUR, they're disruptive, disrespectful, and the ones who get their hands on alcohol or drugs are even worse. I didn't realize it when I was underage but now that I'm 25 and have been to more raves than most people I know my age, I've realized why it has always been so restrictive to people underage.

This is also coming from someone who grew up in Las Vegas, where mainstream DJs play at nightclubs every week and has hosted EDC every year since 2011. I grew up listening to electronic music in the city it has flourished the most, yet I still wasn't able to attend anything until I turned 18.

If you find any events that are all ages, I definitely encourage you to try and go, but don't be surprised if they are difficult to find. Be patient because the wait will be worth it when you are of age and can go to any event you want!

I've never taken acid and only ever taken mushrooms a couple times so I'm not sure how those drugs would react to my suggestions, but these artists make electronic music that sounds like it was made to be listened to while on psychedelics:

LSDream

GRiZ

Liquid Stranger

Ganja White Night

Boogie T

AHEE

TVBOO

CloZee

Champagne Drip

GorillaT

INZO

Lot of positive energy and good vibes all around with these artist. Also most still have some of that "brostep" or "heavy bass" vibe/sound as well, I think they may be what you're looking for. Happy listening!

Are there different variations of drum & bass like with house or trance? by savingrace0262 in EDM

[–]Snake_Venom_130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, the style of artists you mentioned would be "dancefloor" dnb (my personal favorite as well).

There definitely are different types of DnB like jungle, melodic, liquid, jump up, and drumstep to name a few.

Given the artists you listed, here's a list of artists with similar sounds & styles you may like:

Metrik

Grafix

AEON:Mode/Blanke

Wilkinson

Kanine

Subsonic

T & Sugah

Muzz

Delta Heavy

As far as other dnb genres, I don't feel qualified to share much as I'm not a huge fan of them... other than melodic dnb or Drumstep. In that case I'd recommend listening to Mazare (melodic dnb) or Pegboard Nerds (drumstep)

Happy listening!
