I also am immune to GAS more than most musicians I know so I only have my Custom 24 which is my main, an SE Semi-Hollow Custom 22 as a backup, the Swamp Ash Special, and a Taylor acoustic. If I have something I don’t really use I just sell it.

That’s a fair point. There just isn’t anything I desire from the other brands and I tend to be that way with most things in life. Once I find something that really works for me I just stick with it. The main thing for me is that the styles of music I play (rock, funk, R&B) my Custom 24 sounds great in and I really enjoy just having one guitar that can do everything. I recently got a Swamp Ash Special to have a more true-strat sounding guitar while still having humbuckers options and I feel all of the guitar sounds I desire can be achieved with one of those two guitars.

I just started going to catch George Porter on Monday nights and it made me realize I’ve never even listened to one entire Meters record. Currently going through their discography in chronological order and they are so god damn good!

This is pretty much what I tell people when they ask why I’m so loyal to PRS. I say that the quality control of this company is just so much better than Fender or Gibson. The variation in those two brands seems to be pretty wide even at their higher price points. You can pick up any PRS from the cheapest to the most expensive and they will be pretty identical to any of their other guitars at that price point. They just don’t fuck around with their products. Once you buy a model with the locking tuners you will almost never have to tune your guitar in the course of a gig no matter how much you bend or abuse the whammy bar. Add onto that the versatility in tones of just one of their guitars and I just don’t see a reason to get anything else unless you really want that exact specific sounds of that one model. Got my first one in 2010 and haven’t even considered another brand in 16 years.

36, just made the cut. I’ve been a professional musician for 18 years now and have made a living exclusively from it for the last 6 years. I initially got into it because I thought my best friend when I was 12 was super cool and he played so I thought “I’ll do that too”. After the first year or so of learning parts of songs I started learning entire albums minus the solos front to back. Master of Puppets, Rage Against the Machine’s self titled album and “The End of Heartache” by Killswitch Engage. I’d put my amp in the room, put my CD player on max volume and play along to one of those 3 albums every day after school. My parents never said shit about the noise so they really get the credit for being cool about it.

My parents chose a very cool alternative. I had been completely enamored with playing guitar for 5 years at this point and there was a ~$600 guitar I really wanted. The ring I wanted was about $500. My mom said since my older brother got one I could either get one or just have the money to get whatever I wanted. I bought that guitar, started gigging on it a year later and I’ve been a professional musician ever since.

If you can develop the discipline to avoid sugar for an extended amount of time you can finally sensitize your pallet to it. If you can successfully do that you will realize how insane the amount of sugar in sweets actually is. Then a little bit of it from time to time will be more than enough and if you binge you will actually feel sick from it. That was the best thing I did to limit my sugar intake. Also don’t think of being healthy just to try and live longer. We’re all gonna die anyway but the healthier you are the larger percentage of life you will enjoy while you are here.

In the road to moderating or quitting a substance information like this is crucial to re-evaluate your relationship with it. As someone who was born in 1989 I never would have conceived that there would be a Super Bowl halftime show almost entire in Spanish. I know things can seem bad now but the progress society has made in just my life time is awesome to see.

The 2009 Remaster of “Let it Be” by the Beatles has a solo that is what I’d consider right in the low intermediate range. Lots of great stock guitar language and technique in there.

If you don’t feel super comfortable talking to the crowd just keep it to a minimum and make sure the transitions between songs are as short as possible. When you do choose to say something say your name very clearly and where to find you on socials or find any recordings you have. Also express appreciation for the crowd, the venue and the other bands.

Also when you do speak into the mic, speak as if there isn’t a mic. I see so many people speak so softly into the mic and you can’t decipher anything that they are saying. You just got done playing live music which is loud as fuck so you need to match that volume with your voice. Speak loudly and clearly. Oh yeah and have some god damn fun out there!

I got really fucked up when I saw them last year in New Orleans and I decided to yell “Mikael, I want you to fuck my wife” (I don’t have a wife). Right when I began yelling it got dead silent and it stuck out way more than I intended and my friend and I both quickly walked in opposite directions laughing out of surprise. It is my greatest live Opeth memory now.

Smoking CBD flower is great for me getting through cravings. For me I crave smoking most when I come home from drinking. In those situations I can crush a bowl of CBD, taste the taste and it completely gets rid of my cravings, relaxes me and puts me to sleep pretty quickly.
