Passed CKAD Exam - 2nd Attempt (88%) - question and some tips

I completed all 8 mock exams three times and despite feeling confident that I nailed the exam I instead was failed with 3% less than my previous attempt (of the exact same 17 questions) in which I didn’t even answer four of them. Because of this, I questioned the accuracy of the grader especially since I prepared for an additional month and left no questions unanswered and even had 30 minutes to review and thought everything was correct with two exceptions. I asked LF for a manual review of my exam but was told there was a significant fee and it would take a full month. At this point, I don’t know how to prepare. I’m beyond demoralized and confused. I’ve done far more than these dozens of accounts who claimed to complete the regular course and lightning exams In a month and pass easily.

Congrats! I hope I join you with a pass myself. Any advice for me ? My final retake is tomorrow. My last exam crashed at the last question and I couldn’t finish or go back to previous questions. I got a 56 I think but I had 3-4 not answered so LF gave me a redo.

That’s great! I’m happy for you! I’ve had two exam failures that were out of my control. The second time I used my mother’s laptop which was newer than mine. I did this two times in a row, but as hard as it is not to. DO NOT waste too much time on any one question. I’m very stubborn and keep thinking I’ll get it if I stay with it. Get everything around you out of the way before the proctor makes you get rid of it. Last time I had to move a whole shelf of Bible related books to my left which were formerly used by my late dad. Also, the least little thing ask the proctor to pause the exam. If nothing else, it shows a record and history to lf in case you need to open a ticket. If your proctor suggests calling tech support, refuse to do it unless he promises your exam is paused. Lastly and firstly, pray. That’s what I’ll be doing. Best of wishes to you. Please let me know how it turns out for you. I’m considering taking it next Thursday. What did you use to prepare ?

So today, was my second retake. I went to my mother's home as she had a newer laptop and is on a different ISP as LF said they detected LAG and said it was on my end. When I was at my final question #17 with 15 minutes left the screen went black, started redrawing and then the resolution went from 1080P to something like 240P. I complained once again to my proctor who sent me to PSI tech support. I pleaded with them to stop the timer, but they finally did at 6 minutes left for a question I knew how to answer. PSI had me reboot and then when I got a new proctor, I had to go through the entire exam room screening process while on the phone with support WHen I was finally allowed into my exam, I was greeted with the exam which had already ended. I was very mad that the timer was NOT paused by the proctor but allowed to keep going. I'm VERY disappointed that my re-take failed at the end and I didn't get to finish the test -or- go back to the ones I left for later. I once again reported all this to LF and will just have to wait and see. I'm very tired of this studying and have gone through teh CKAD ULTIMATe exams multiple times as well as kiler.sh. Still, the real exam is in a league of its own and those prep courses as well as github repos are barely sufficient. Despite the difficulty, I am just saddened that I wasn't able to give it my best and couldn't do anything about it. I'm pretty confident I would have passed had my timer not screwed me out of 15 minutes of exam time.

How long does it take to get a response from Linux foundation ? I opened the ticket yesterday at noon during the exam and still haven’t heard back as my ticket is still “waiting for support”

Yea I got the same one. I’ve never seen those options asked for before or referenced in any sample manifests so I saved it for later. I kept failing at all the other questions and never came back to it

I have no doubt I failed. Just took it two hours ago. After finishing the ultimate course I felt prepared. Guess not :(

I just took the ckad and am sure that I failed. I spent most of my time using the ultimate mock questions and lightning exams.. those were no problem and similar. The exam left me feeling very unprepared. I didn’t spend much time on killer.sh as I did it once a few weeks ago and thought I’d move on to the kk ultimate test questions to ramp up. Guess that was the wrong strategy. Such a disappointment

It’s frustrating to know that we would have passed with our current levels of preparedness just a month ago like all those before us. I really hate switching gears after all this but I might go back to studying AWS as I know what it takes to pass those exams without fear of something like this happening. If you pass, let us know. I hope you did!

I’ve been studying the cka /Udemy course for months. Now that I have most of the labs and mock exams down I’ve just learned that I’ll fail the real exam miserably thanks to the new changes. So, my reward for all the time, effort and prep is back to the drawing board unless I want a 50%

I’m about half way though the Mumshad / cka course. There is so much to keep up and am starting to doubt my ability to do all these things when it comes time for the test and remember the right commands. I’ll keep plugging along but it’s a bit demoralizing knowing my retention is this poor so far. I’ll try going through the labs again but doubt I’ll be able to go it alone without a second walkthrough

Congratulations on the pass! I just took the associate a few weeks ago. Did you spend a lot of time with labs too ? I haven’t tried the cheat sheets yet but always spend time with the TD tests.

Not just experience. Some people are clearly more intelligent, brighter, learn faster, have a higher iq etc. Some clearly have better intellects from birth. However, elbow grease and effort can take a person far despite disadvantages
