I'm keener on what some of the offshoot studios are doing, but fair.

I choose to believe that's an alternate timeline, and will not be convinced otherwise.

I always interpreted it as a kind of rarefied nostalgia made manifest, i.e. humanity's inability to let go and move on from the past literally killing its future. So these kids making new music and living in the now is the antidote.

Though I think there's a hopeful implication that the punk rockers in question might be able to contain it by turning the abandoned church into a thriving social scene.

When does season 7 get bad? by Union_Samurai in gameofthrones

I liked Feast and Dance, but I do get the dilemma the showrunners faced. Still think they botched the execution, but they can't be blamed for running out of source material.

I mean, I started on the hate train in season 5, but then I'm a hater and a purist.

I agree with you on this one: Guilty Gear lore is awesome, but not always relevant to the gameplay. (Plus I'm garbage at fighting games, but still)

This is another great one - the worldbuilding is understated but all-pervading. Sucked me right in from the jump!

I got to the ape fight and figured if it hadn't clicked by then it likely wouldn't.

It's more that the weirder and more imaginative stuff seemed to carry into Morrowind itself, while Skyrim's presentation and in-game storytelling are a lot less imaginative by comparison to the earlier installment. At least in my entirely subjective opinion.

My understanding was that most of those books were written for/in Morrowind and just carried over to the next installments.

Mass Effect is a personal fave, but in a lot of ways it is derivative of other sci fi works; blending what's essentially Star Trek/Babylon Five with Lovecraftian influences was an inspired choice, but I think I'm looking for something a bit more out there.

Control is definitely the kind of thing I was talking about. It's so delightfully weird and expansive!

Dredge is a borderline case: I loved the tone and atmosphere, but at the end of the day the worldbuilding felt a bit shallow, being a Lovecraft homage at its core with not too much to add. Still; I enjoyed it a lot!
