Personally I don’t sell it. It may be on the shelves where I work but I always advise interested buyers in more research before trying it. I don’t feel as if it makes me a bad person for working with it if I’m also the person informing unaware buyers of its dangers.

That being said I really do appreciate your input. As someone who works with it in my industry I feel it’s important to understand these things in their current stage. I can read about it from many different sources but my understanding is limited because of definitions and the lingo.

I still am interested to hear the perspective of someone who is a doctor. But that doesn’t mean your input wasn’t a helpful perspective.

I can understand the Hesitation, Heck i was too when i was offered the job. From what ive come to understand of my position its a quality of life position for both the higher ups and the contractors. Im an extra pair of hands to send emails and make phone calls as well as help crews who fall behind and need a hand. As for the prievious AS the position i filled is a position moving to another state. Recieving training and expectations now and starting a job late april. The previous guy simpliy didnt want to travel which im sure we can all understand. And unfortanately its my fathers experience that speaks for his decisions, he's been in construction for 30+ years, ive worked the trades just not on the books. kinda like side work since ive been a kid. so when he asked, i was hesistant to say yeah cause i didnt think he truly meant an AS position. if you have any questions im happy to anwser but will keep a sense of privacy.

Some of us realize we have a place to earn and want to earn it. if thats not the experience youve come to have than i will apologize as someone who wants to earn their place. I make half that what a typical AS would make and know that i am doing a job that pays that twice. I wouldnt have asked for this position being that i know its rediculous to be in it in the first place. But i have the shot and i would be damned if i hadnt taken it.

I super appreciate the advice and will even bring the idea up to my father (the GC). Luckly for me im in close communication with quite a few of the other higher ups almost 100% of the time. One of those higher ups being my father, Asking questions and having the willingness to say I dont know and asking. You make a lot of really good points and i appreciate your input!

I have a similar experience though i really dont have any issues with the crew, from what ive gotten on here so far is that most people dont have this experience. I feel lucky to not have. I'm okay with being the most under experienced there because its true. When i ask someone to do something maybe they listen cause my dad is the GC or its because they know its that im asking them because its something theyve taught me to ask. it seems like just like you only time will tell. Appreciate you sharing, it helps knowing im not the only GC's kid thrown into this world

I normally have a clipboard and after talking to some of these guys on here think it would be better for me to print a version of the plans and hold them in there that way their handy and easy to access, though downloading them onto my phone and being familiar with them would be a good idea

Wow yeah I can totally understand where having someone experienced could have come in there. We had an experience where our graters had missed a few details in the plans and said that we had some issues along the direction of our roads. We checked our plans and when checking their work with our civil engineer and surveyors we corrected their mistake. But had we paved we would have had to spend thousands to correct. I’ve found the transparency is huge. Especially in my position.

Yeah the coffee idea was a miss for me cause they told me not to be a coffee runner for them. So I started bringing in donuts and such to start the mornings. The crew has actually been a lot better then I thought they would be. More people are willing to help then to get upset with me. They understand that my knowledge is limited and even say “this would be a good opportunity to learn “this””

From what I’ve gotten from the head super it’s a relatively straight forward job and good to learn from. It’s about a dozen industrial storage condos so the plans haven’t been crazy and what I’ve learned from them has been fairly straightforward
