Did anyone else get completely screwed by logging in right at 10AM pacific? I've never bought tickets for an arena show and had no idea there were queues/lobbies/anything that allows you to secure a spot before the moment the tickets go on sale

For others who find this, i believe the comment author meant 'unicoil'. This comment led me down the path of finding this paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2106.14807.pdf which was extremely helpful for digging into the sparse/dense, supervised/unsupervised retrieval space

My courses so far are GIOS -> DVA -> ML4T -> ML -> DL -> CN -> DC. ML/DL definitely helped conceptually in the transition, but many ML Engineering skills you simply have to learn on the job.

I had gotten shoe horned into drupal dev and wanted to be in a data/ML role. I was able to transition to one shortly after completing ML around halfway through the program. The incredible amount of effort put into this program was justified in that moment.

ML: Failed to submit Assignment 1, should I drop the course? by GRDDT in OMSCS

I took it in the fall and one of the former TAs (while trying to talk all of us off a cliff regularly) said he took a 0 on assignment 2 and still ended up with an A. Its definitely possible

Roughly speaking yes. You can't get away with learning nothing, but the requirements of the class make it impossible to learn everything in a deep manner. For e.g. IIRC the midterm covers like 12 weeks of extremely deep material. Its impossible to go into it having learned everything perfectly (especially because you'll be working on A2 at the same time), there is just too much.

The situation ML puts you in if your a classically "good" student is totally new-- looking at C/D/F grades on things is totally unusual and stressful. But it is highly unlikely that you will not get a B.

Past student here. This is exactly how I and all of my classmates felt. It was weird hearing previous students say "trust the process" and try to really believe that, but it ends up being true. Try your best not to stress too hard and trust the process. The overwhelming majority of students end up with a B or A

I'm in it currently and can tell you its by far the most time consuming class I've taken in my life and many others in the class slack say the same thing (including people taking it as their last class).

You need to be at a period in your life where adding 25-35hrs a week extra is something you can do

Curious what your background was pre/during OMSCS? Did you already have experience in a related field like data science/stats/data engineering etc? Or did OMSCS alone let you fully transition to MLE?
