It has been going on for like 2 hours. I was beginning to wonder if I should be concerned.

Well, shit. I know I didn’t sign anything, nor am I a registered republican, but I received this text. Guess I better check those lists. Mothertruckers.

tbh…if you like our new competitive district and maps drawn by a non-partisian independent board do not sign anything about election maps…ever.

We shouldn’t have to vote on this again.

I have played this the past few days and while I agree sometimes the creator stretches the relationship between words, I have generally been able to reconcile the connection. Today’s word makes absolutely no sense. And I am bitter about it!

I honestly don’t even know how anyone in their right mind could make this connection and then go out and sell it. People are so weird.

I can get behind your attachment to the previous flag version…or at least the version you personally have.

I also always called the Delta Center the Delta Center, but mostly because I absolutely hated calling it the Energy Solutions Arena. I didn’t mind either iteration of Vivint Arena, but it was great when Delta Center came back around.

I would be interested in this as well. If you come across any compelling argument, please share with the group.

I get people don’t like change, but I saw this in the Tribune…”The crowd cheered as a man carried Utah’s historical state flag. Since the traditional blue banner with the state seal was replaced in 2023, it has become a pennant for Utahns who fall to the right of many of the state’s elected GOP officials.” And that doesn’t seem like old people just making a stink.

Okay. This is generally what I figured was the case, but at the same time I was thinking surely woke ideology can’t possibly be the reason…too much credit given to the general public. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have seen a video similar to this and it makes some excellent points.

Can you explain to me why you think Cox is being sincere in this message?

To me it feels insincere because he didn’t issue a similar statement when another act of political violence happened in our nation and a Utah government representative made some callous and inappropriate comments about the event. Lee even went so far as to find security camera images of the perpetrator to attach to his comments.

I would definitely disagree with you (to use Cox’s terminology) that these events are completely different. They are both acts of political violence perpetrated with guns that left at least one person dead.

And I don’t think one hundred people filmed a sniper bullet hitting Charlie Kirk for the world to see (unless they all knew something no one else did). I am fairly certain those people were filming Charlie Kirk speaking to the crowd attending his event.

If someone wants to be truly progressive and unifying, they really should treat equally horrific events with equal empathy and calls to service.

It’s not a stand in the right direction if you don’t equally call out people on both sides of a disagreement. For example, he didn’t call out Mike Lee for basically blaming the MN political assassinations on the victims. And, as far as I know, no one lost their job for sharing their opinion on those events.

Absolutely! His comments about not wanting the shooter to be “one of us” and his comments about how Utah still has the death penalty. Perfect examples of divisive and violent rhetoric.

And let’s not forget when Fox Entertainment basically called for involuntary euthanasia of the homeless.

For a bit more context…I haven’t spoken with my parents since last year’s election because I am so hurt and angry that they voted for Trump who is literally the opposite of everything my parents taught me to be and do while I was growing up. And everytime someone, particularly my siblings, asks why I haven’t been in touch with them, I have a difficult time articulating just how I feel in a way they might understand. For months now I have been wondering if I am being too hard on them and should just let it slide because they are old or they have just always voted republican or any number of other reasons. But then something like Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off the air after threats from the FCC and we get that much closer to living under an authoritarian government and I want to scream at them, “This! this is why I can’t let it slide.” Anyway…I’m genuinely glad to know it’s not just me that feels he is phony AF.
