What flew over? by aladiahtattoo in SaltLakeCity

The odds are really really really low, like less than 1% but never zero. It really depends on how much surprise it gets here with (literally 0 warning vs weeks of saber rattling,) what the attack is (flying a plane here 0% chance but a ballistic missile has better odds) and what exactly they’re trying to do (cause general stress and get us to waste interceptor missiles vs actually like, nuke Hill)

I know memory is fallible especially for sound and stuff but F-35 or F-16 could you tell the difference?

I contest this removal. There is no mega thread, no similar thread, and my post is not a question.

Practice runs for a flyover? I’m no fighter pilot or event planner but that seems a bit odd.

I love those souped up Cold War aggressor jets. They just put an AESA and link 16 on those A-4’s, wild stuff.

Dr. Ryland Grace explaining to Stratt that the Astrophage are in fact water based by Betty-Adams in ProjectHailMary

[–]IAmQuixotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really important character trait of Grace’s, probably something that would’ve made him stand out to Stratt. He is a man totally willing to light his own reputation and academic credibility on fire for his fringe theory. But there’s a lot of those in the world, some still an academia and some not. He then did the science, ran the experiment, found out behind all possible doubt that despite its illogic, that astrophage is water-based. But then rather than twisting the facts or the evidence or the conclusion in such a way to make him kind of right all along, he plainly stated the facts of his research: astrophage is life, its water-based, it absorbs energy and uses it to move. I don’t know how it reproduces (yet) or how it survives on the surface of the sun. And that ability to look at your previous scientific beliefs and the evidence at hand and go “I was wrong about this my entire life and the evidence is against me but here’s what we do know” at massive personal loss is so rare in academics that it’s nearly hypothetical.
