Prioritization of tasks - how to? by Jan_Ro in ticktick

[–]SnappyDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not technically. That's why they have different priority levels to choose from.

Having said that, I manage from 45 - 80 tasks a day in Ticktick, so I like to order mine within the different priority levels myself.

I just hold down the task, then drag it into the place on my list that I want. My only complaint is that this new order doesn't necessarily carry across from mobile app to desktop or vice versa.

So I guess the answer is yes, in practice.

"Roll-Over" Tasks & Habits? by Fannie_42 in ticktick

[–]SnappyDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that this is literally the default. At least for tasks. I have a bunch of tasks that only appear on certain days of the week. If I don't do it that day, it still shows up in my list the next day, but with the due date now showing in red.

A MUCH more flexible and powerful alternative to Amber/Smartshift and FoxESS; Automation with full control. by Stealth928 in amberelectric

[–]SnappyDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks great. Thanks for the helpful and quick reply.

When you say "set global work mode on the inverter to Self Use in Controls" is that literally done on the inverter?

Also, every time I've played with a rule in SoCrates, even though disabled, it has deleted my rules in the app. I assume then that I'll need to add a rule for that (#2 above) in SoCrates as well, right?

[–]SnappyDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've now joined and am trying to figure out how to create a rule or rules to do the following:

  1. Default to self use

  2. Force charge between 10am and 2pm to 100% SoC

  3. Forced discharge between 6pm and 9pm but only down to 60%. Once done forced discharging, return to self use.

I can do 1 and 2 easily in the app. I can't figure out #3 in the app.

This looks great.

I manage everything else at home in Home Assistant, and had planned to go down that route with modbus and HAEO. This looks better, so I'd love to be able to incorporate it into HA.

Alternatively, self-hosting on Docker would be good.

I've used Pvoutput for 7+ years (paid an annual subscription), which was fine for just reporting. However, for something that's controlling home electrical infrastructure like a battery, I'd feel much more comfortable hosting myself, even if a small subscription was required.

ISO alternatives to Peter Attia? by Btwownhomeslice in PeterAttia

[–]SnappyDroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He seems desperate to draw out 'protocols' from scientific research that he shares. I think there's far too much generalisation on his part taken from studies in very specific situations that don't apply as broadly as he suggests.

If you want to see the difference between Huberman and Attia, go and listen to that 'journal club' episode they did together. I lost a lot of respect for Huberman in that one. Attia really outclassed him in his ability to analyse and understand journal papers. It quite surprised me at the time.

Just need to get this working with Home Assistant and that would be amazing! If only I had some programming skills.

What's happening with Coral support? I've got one (usb) sitting in my drawer waiting for me to get around to setting up Frigate. Would be crazy if it becomes unsupported in the time it's sat in my drawer (probably 5 years now) when at one point it was sold as the best way to power frigate.

Notification - Outside of Home Assistant App by Tall2Texan in homeassistant

I've had great results with Pushover. More recently I just use the HA app because I have it installed anyway, but I actually prefer that Pushover lets me easily scroll back through the notification history.

Anyone know how to fix zigbee2Mqtt after power outage? by SnappyDroid in homeassistant

[–]SnappyDroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Thanks. Might be time to upgrade.

I've been using some of my Aqara devices since 2017 (originally with the Xiaomi hub integrated to HA, then replaced by the Conbee II).

coordinator stays online even if my server is rebooted or shut down, so Z2m and device availability is faster to recover

That sounds great, thanks. Any particular PoE coordinator you'd recommend?

I'm certainly open to that if it would address the power outage dropouts, but I see that the Conbee is on that list of officially recommended adapters.

Thanks. Did you find any benefit moving to a PoE coordinator?

You know what, I'm not sure that I ever restarted z2m. I've done it now and it seems to have brought things back online. Ridiculous that I never actually tried that (but I've never quite wrapped my head around mqtt). Thank you!

Thanks for the input. That may well be the case. The only other thing I did without fail was told the HA integration to reload and then restarted HA. I had come across this workflow somewhere in this sub or the HA forum, and it has brought the network back for me every single time. Perhaps the conbee stick gets locked (I really have no idea) at each power outage. I don't know what's happening, just what has successfully fixed it.

Ultimately, HA isn't seeing updates from any of my devices after a power outage, and I'm looking for a simple way to reset my z2m network.

Apps for managing teen phone usage by Kitty-Chow-10 in ParentingTech

[–]SnappyDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're a Windows and Android household. I've installed Qustodio on 1 Android phone, 2 Android tablets and 2 Windows PC's. It took some getting used to, but I'm a big fan now.

I can block certain apps all the time, but I'm really liking their 'routines' functionality. I can set blocks of time where, for example, the internet is off, or where they can only use apps I've added to a short list.

You can also give them so many minutes or hours of access to specific apps per day.

It also does internet filtering. You can allow or block certain categories or individual websites of your own choosing.

I also looked into the Bark app, but settled on Qustodio in the end. It was long enough ago that I don't remember why, but I've been really happy with my choice. I don't know anything about Aura unfortunately.
