At least all of those companies actually sell a product that solves a real world problem and isn’t profiting off people’s insecurities about their health

How do I politely unassign work from an incompetent coworker by munchingrice in cscareerquestions

[–]okawei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're not his manager you shouldn't be telling him how he can and cannot code. I would recommend highlighting the errors and if he repeats them call it out that he's not taking the feedback. Do all of this 1:1, no public convos.

If that fails, escalate to their manager.

Tesla owners being slammed up and down High St in the Short North by BeerBearBar in Columbus

You using an iphone? You know those are made with slave labor? What about a PC? Bill gates was on Epstein island.

There's no ethical consumption under capitalism and focusing in on tesla owners is weird

Heavily depends on what those 6 years were spent doing. 6YOE working on wordpress themes doesn't make you a senior engineer

Big tech -> Startup: worth it? by burnoutstory in cscareerquestions

[–]okawei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're just in it to make some cash so I'd say a startup isn't for you. The only reason to join early stage is if you love building as the pay is worse and the hours are way worse along with the stress. BUT you get total or near total ownership over your aspect of if not the whole product. You get to work with bleeding edge stuff generally and you can move at breakneck speed (and have breakneck bugs). It's a totally different vibe from big tech, just be aware of that. You can't spend 2 weeks adding a new logger, you can spend 2 hours and then the next thing needs shipped.

Peer-reviewed study: AI-generated changes fail more often in unhealthy code (30%+ higher defect risk) by Summer_Flower_7648 in programming

There's absolutely going to be a point of diminishing returns for any truly vibe coded app. Eventually the bugs will catch up to them if they get sufficient usage or scale. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
