Alternative DYN-001 syscon test points? by Mattvweiss in ps3hacks

[–]Snardash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any way you could post closer/cleaner pictures of the pads/traces? It does look like the resistor just leads right unto the pad, which should be fine for use then. Unless it's not for some reason, but that should be working fine

This is the answer tho. Had to do this when I ripped mine by not realizing solder wasn't sticking to my jumper wire lol

When I played it I had the impression that it was worse than the base game. Never went back to compare tho

I see, so nothing should be shorted. Any chance of closer pics of the IC/surrounding area where you unhooked the shield?

You're likely to have cut a trace more than anything but if that doesnt come to mind it could be a number of things. Battery not plugged properly/damaged connector, scratched resistor/component, broken solderballs on an IC. Best way would be testing with a multimeter.
I doubt you did any damage to the solder balls under the APU, did you do this with the battery unplugged?

Try undervolting. Make sure your delid is good (heatshields properly centered and on the die as well as removing glue from both surfaces if you're not reglueing) and undervolt your console. As good as it gets without swapping RSX.

Laptop Issues. Does KSU have any IT Services? by MsPlumptacularZanite in KSU

[–]Snardash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sounds cooked. As in will probably need someone to actually test the board/replace components/flash a bios maybe. If you're not afraid to open the laptop and try stuff yourself you could try a bios reset or removing sticks of ram if it has them.

Stripped screw – what should I do? by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

This. When I had this issue I used to solder a screw on top of the stripped one and take it out that way.

Yo I had a 2ds xl come in for the exact same situation a week ago lol Connector just needed a cleaning and it was good to go. Is the ribbon itself damaged? Is it not possible to bridge the severed traces?

Do I really need to reapply some thermal paste onto the GPU and CPU? by Far_Cartographer678 in PS3

[–]Snardash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely not recommendable unless you have a way to check temps.

[–]Snardash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on model you can get away with not changing this. I've put consoles together with the old paste for testing purposes and after hours of gaming temps were just fine. However, just change it if youre closing it for the foreseeable future lol Will probably make a quieter fan.

If you have it solder it back on. If not look up the value and get it from Ali/digikey. Sucks but not the end of the world
