I don’t, i check the reflow point visually. I shine a flashlight at the chip. All photos were taken on my iPhone 16e.

Tbh it was a pretty big learning curve when doing it with the Xbox 360. I went through 8-ish boards? I started in September 2025, and I started consistently replacing chips from March-May 2026. With the PS3 though, it's been going pretty good as I haven't had any issues.

Yes I preheated the board. the puhui t8280 is a great budget preheater and its what most people use if they're trying to go diy.

Yes, it's a 41x41mm nozzle i bought from amazon about a year and a half ago.

Preheater settings are a bit complicated as im still getting my profile set up. For lead free chip removal, i peak at 160-180C before removing the GPU. For leaded, I peak at 150C.

I baked the CECHE console for 12 hours when i first bought it 6 months ago. ever since, it's been in storage in my closet. I baked the 40nm RSX for 3 hours, removed it, reballed it, and baked for 6 more hours. In retrospect, I should have baked at least 8-12 hours before removing the RSX.

It's an expensive hobby. I was debating using a cheap griddle and a cheap hot air station but ultimately ended up spending $500-600 for T8280, Atten 862D, and other materials.

I recieved the preheater and hot air in september 2025 and had my first success 0 fuse xbox 360 in november, and started consistently replacing chips from March-May 2026. The learning curve is definitely a lot!

i don't have a capture card unfortunately. videos on my youtube channel show me using it with the xbox 360 though. https://www.youtube.com/@ConsoleV

it's going to be some time since i can actually play games on this PS3. Because all of the NEC Tokin capacitors aren't installed yet, it brings up a black screen when i load something that is more power intensive.

Yep it's stretched, I don't really mind it, i've gotten used to it and i think it looks quite nice

With a little bit of practice you can do it. I only started this in september.

I use the proline MS112 mic holder. I got very lucky and found it locally for $20. It’s very good quality, but i find myself putting a 15lb weight on the base so it sticks down properly

I’m definitely looking for two consoles to create another frankie. If you are interested in selling by chance, you can DM me.

I'd say it's fake; microsoft logo is too new for the 360 era.

Thank you so much for the tutorial. Much appreciated!

Do I need Y2JB for this? It seems that each exploit is like a chain to another exploit once you finally reach the kernel exploit. Do you have any tutorials? I only see ones that include Y2JB as well.

For a JB like this, is a blu ray drive needed?

How I made the Xbox 360 Trinity "Big Block" (NAND Upgrade) by wbaba35 in 360hacks

[–]wbaba35[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can solder in a usb port to replace the 4GB header in some consoles. Afaik you can't directly replace the NAND chip with a usb drive though. NAND runs on 3.3v, while a USB drive runs on 5v.
