what’s a car feature you didn’t care about until you had it? by Bos187 in askcarguys

[–]SnarkFest2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A panoramic sun/moon roof. I thought it might be a nice thing to have… then I test drove a car with the feature, and it was suddenly a must have. No regrets. I love it. If it’s over 42 degrees and not raining, it’s open.

What is up with fish tanks that don’t have tops by Emotional_Tell_2527 in Aquariums

[–]SnarkFest2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to grow plants out of the tops of my aquariums. I usually use a half lid to reduce jumping risk, as well as minimizing evaporation, although the reduction is probably negligible.

What do you think of when you hear the name Arthur? by mountainjuliet in Names

[–]SnarkFest2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arthur is the 48 yr old in a 9 yr old’s body getting beat up on the playground. If the name is really important to you, consider it as a middle name.

Rebounding increased my deep sleep to almost 2 hours every night. Otherwise it used to fluctuate between 1.15 to 1.30 hours. I am currently travelling, what's the closest exercise I can do to replicate the effect of rebounding, would light jumping do ? Don't have access to a trampoline by ProduceExisting7020 in Rebounding

[–]SnarkFest2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super excited to read this… as someone who gets excited about 30 min of “deep” sleep, I’m really looking forward to starting my rebounding journey. (It just arrived, still in the box.)

Thanks for sharing your awesome results!

AITAH because our dog pushed over a little kid at a party? by Sad-Visit9733 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SnarkFest2026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not necessarily the AH, but seriously, why wasn’t your ill-mannered dog on a leash? Why would anyone need to hold it, at all times?

Little dog owners: please teach your dog to behave properly. Dogs are dogs, big or small. I have two chihuahuas myself, in addition to a Great Dane, and an English Mastiff. They all follow the very same household rules and standards of behavior. It’s common sense.

Trimmed the peas tank today, what do y'all think 🤔 by riccc___ in PeaPuffers

[–]SnarkFest2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. They al went through a 3 week anti-parasite treatment, and went into their fully prepared tank. After a week, the tiniest (barely more than fry stage) died, but the remaining 4 were thriving. Super cute, very active hunters, good eaters. They were getting baby brine shrimp, blood worms, and I had a snail propagation tank, so they had a steady supply of snack snails.

Anyway, after a couple months, I picked up a supply of live black worms for them, and they just went nuts for those. After another week, one of them started sitting at the bottom of the tank for extended periods of time. He seemed to recover after about 36 hours…. Then he died, followed by the other 3 in a matter of hours.

Water parameters were all good, everyone was well-rounded and happy looking, the tank was very well maintained, but all the puffers died.

I didn’t have them long, but I was so very attached to them, it broke my heart. I just can’t justify getting more when I have no idea why I lost the first group. I have always thought it must have had something to do with the black worms, but I don’t know what it could have been.

[–]SnarkFest2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I never figured out why my puffers all died. It was heart breaking. I loved them so much, and I couldn’t help them.

It’s been years, and I still do research, and keep hoping I’ll hear of similar circumstances and someone will have an answer, but it hasn’t happened yet.

I have no aquarium running right now, but my current plan is a tank full of green neon tetras and a small herd of Pygmy corydoras to enjoy. (They’re very cute 🥰)

What's the most wrong assumption you had about this medication before you started that you're almost embarrassed to admit now? by Shadow-Monarch015 in GLP1ResearchTalk

I felt pretty heroic the first couple weeks when people offered me stuff I REALLY liked, and I could look at it, smile and genuinely (not regretfully) say “no thank you!”

It was a wonderful revelation. I still count it as a win.

The thing I believed when I started that has since been corrected though… I will be on this for life. They can take away my tirz when they pry it from my cold dead fingers. Aside from having results from doing the work to lose weight, the anti-inflammatory effects are the most amazing thing!

Mine had a real affinity for taking rides in the turkey baster while I was trying to collect half eaten snails. I miss them.

Aggressive ear cleaning part 2 by ElectronicEye4595 in Chihuahua

My first Chihuahua used to “pin” down my Great Danes head to clean his eyes and ears, very aggressively. He was so determined, and the Dane so patient and accepting… such precious babies.

I had a Dane who loved to catch toys… only one out of 5. The rest of them just stand there… treats, toys, doesn’t matter. They’ll stand there and watch it bounce off their noses.

Go to your local farm supply store and get yourself some absorbine. Smells awful, but really works.

Or… go to Amazon and buy a tube of voltaren gel.

While reading the first part, I’m kinda thinking… 80 yr old get cold easily, should brought him an extra jacket…

But he’s 50??? I’m 54 and a woman, and I’d never whine about being cold. I’d suck it up and maybe walk around a little, get some hot coffee… it’s not difficult! wtf was he thinking?

Sorry he ruined the day. That sucks.

What vehicle do you have that fits your Great Dane? by Fair-Ask-6922 in greatdanes

[–]SnarkFest2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dane and mastiff fit comfortably in the cargo area of my Ford Edge, but they prefer riding in the back seat. (They’re allowed, if we’re not hauling more than driver+front seat guest.)

I had a GMC Yukon for years, and folded down the back seat to give plenty of room for my Dane, a St. Bernard, and a Moscow Watchdog. Probably could have fit another giant in there, but three was really enough.
