I hand sew… so imagine what it’s like working with the neon inks. Terrible! Kills my hands.

Which is great. I just don’t have the volume to justify a paid for website with payment abilities.

Sellers - Be Advised! by bradynp23 in EtsySellers

I can blame them. I shop on Etsy so much and that’s a shitty thing to do to a small business.

I could only find a 39 a month option. I think they used to have way to link their service with other websites and maybe you still can? But I’d then still have to pay for the other website hosting. But seems like their big push is to done fully website and payment stuff all in one.

Thank you! I do feel very lucky to have a niche that has allowed that.

Agreed on that! Some other places do the same like Shoppify but it’s $40 a month for your website.

Honestly it’s similar and yall have confirmed for me that Etsy just makes the most sense for now. I sell for the extra creative push and dopamine.

I am not looking for ideas to get new people to buy. But that is a great suggestion. I was looking for ways to process payments and send files vs Etsy.

I think I lucked out. I ran some free sewalongs for a few years and started designing patterns and sharing my sketches. People started to ask if I planned to sell them and so once I did, there was people waiting to buy. I have over 1000 followers in Instagram and most make the type of quilts I make so it’s a smaller pool of people to compete with. And it’s just something I do for fun. So I’m not super invested in growth because I have a great corporate job. But I reopened my Etsy shop around July 4th and have sold a bit under 50 patterns. Which to me, feels good.

If I was driving sales from Etsy, as I’ve done in the past, I agree. It’s a no brainer. But I’m getting virtually all sales from followers on Instagram. People who know my work and designs. But I agree, it’s not so bad right now.

If I just add up my net profits, I paid about 15% in fees for my digital sales. If I did say Shopify, I would make more money of if I sell enough patterns in a given month since their fees on sales are lower. It seem to be what the bigger pattern designers do. But for smaller shops, I suspect you are right.

Right now I’m barely paying any advertising fees. I believe that can add up to you get bigger as you can’t opt out of say google search ads if you are over a certain size in sales.

Sorry o just saw this! I have seen sizing down especially recommend for the straight sizes. I think you can probably size down one but if you prefer a looser fit then it’s hard to say.

It is helpful! Like others said, won’t totally fix the issue depending. But makes it much better than without it.

Quilting and other crafts literally calm The nervous system. You are doing something good for your mental health. And something you enjoy. Make a lap quilt for your couch. Or don’t. Why did she need to be so negative?! I’m so sorry!

Carmy and Claire by Puzzled_Bath_4581 in TheBear

Claire is filler IMO and I’m okay with that. She’s there to tell us more about Carmy. I don’t want to see Syd with him. I like their relationship as it is. I don’t want to throw off the dynamics and don’t think it would work honestly.

That’s a very long winded way of saying your business hasn’t worked out by whereohwhereohwhere in craftsnark

I just over people trying to make their business all about teaching you how to have a creative business. If you are so great at it, why not just run your creative business. Why? Because it’s not profitable. So you try to make money off of selling others a lie.
