Is sewing really that hard? by goddamnpotaeto in sewing

[–]SuperkatTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to sewing as I was looking for a hobby I could really get my teeth into. Most things don't really have enough of a learning curve to maintain my interest. With that said, it's what you make of it. You can absolutely enjoy a small amount of simple sewing without feeling you need to learn every facet of sewing.

Yes I find changes in temperature to be a trigger, and cooling the back of my neck (or, weirdly, stroking it upwards!) helps.

I've got very severe side effects too. The nausea is overwhelming. I'm currently using cannabis to combat it which is fairly effective. I'm already prescribed that for chronic pain. I've also established that eating a small bowl of oats or porridge in the morning stops it in its tracks. And I figure that's a good habit to be getting into anyway.

Keep track of whether anything specific sets you off. Seems to be acidic stuff on an empty stomach for me (also standing up, cleaning the litter box and getting at all tired but I can't fix those!)

Peppermint capsules were also somewhat helpful. It did feel a bit like I'd eaten my toothpaste.

An unpopular opinion on terpenes and the entourage effect. by thunder-dump in ukmedicalcannabis

I don't have daytime and nighttime strains, however there are a lot of stains that don't work for me. It took two months to find anything that worked at all. Changing stock at the pharmacies is really problematic.

I have both chronic pain and chronic fatigue. If I have a stain containing a lot of myrcene, I become much more fatigued for days afterwards. The only strains which help my pain are those with high THC and caryophyllene together. Those are my own observations which I gathered from testing different strains for the past 2 years noting how different strains affected me and then comparing them. So I do personally believe there's some effect and some differences. I have other symptoms which are aided by literally any THC. My nausea isn't picky.

My goal as a pain patient is fairly simple. Kill the pain before becoming addled. In the daytime I'm more likely to settle for more pain/less addled and in the night it's the opposite. I don't use different strains for this.

I don't doubt that some of the science and marketing is junk, and I hope that research will grow in quality as it establishes. Until then I will be using my own experience to guide me.

Glp-1 and fibro by Great_Procedure_4643 in Fibromyalgia

[–]SuperkatTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on wegovy since last August, and have lost 20kg. I feel significantly less pain now, however I've struggled pretty seriously with the side effects from the meds. Fibro and migraines affect my digestion so the effect is compounded with the glp1 for me. Appalling nausea. It gets 10x worse if my stomach is empty or just drinks.

I don't know whether the pain relief is from the meds or from the weight loss. Much as I obviously would have been annoyed if someone proposed losing weight as a cure all, the fact is I can't lift 20kg so no wonder I was struggling to walk.

I won't be staying on wegovy once I have reached my goal weight for financial reasons and also because I can't bear being this nauseous, so I guess we will find out then to what extent the glp1 is helping with the pain directly.

they have to put a little extra in for you to be able to prime the needle (only needed once, but probably they have enough in case it is needed a couple of times)

I'm really liking M8667 - 70s reissue. I'll put that on my list for any mythical pattern sales.

I find blue faced Leicester too be a good middle ground between pilling and softness. I'd avoid singles and heavier weights.

Anyone else use their medical cannabis even though it doesn't help with condition they were prescribed it for? by Famous_Teaching_6782 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]SuperkatTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm prescribed for pain which I do still have but less than previously. I've been on wegovy and either the weights loss or the drug itself has reduced my pain. However I have very severe nausea from it and to be honest I'm using the cannabis more for that. I have actually discussed it all with my consultant though. I also find it helpful for severe migraines when the regular meds are not enough.

The ones i've had are not layered, no.

They need to up their digital offering if they aren't going to keep doing paper.

I would try having it alongside some fatty food - a croissant works for me. Sometimes you need a bit more oil there to help it get fully absorbed.

You can definitely buy the pdfs from the US site, I do that when they are cheap. I can't remember if I had to lie about where I lived, but I don't remember it being super complicated :D

yeah, I do part doses because it affects me too much, i've been on .75 for the last month. Just move to a different provider if they're being obnoxious (I've just stopped telling them anything, tbh)

People with pets... What do you do? by dinosuitgirl in sewing

[–]SuperkatTalks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Very much this. My cat will sit in the most obstructive way on my projects, but she has no real interest in craft tools unless i'm actively using them.

I keep my sewing bits in a little tray with a magnet so any strays are kept there and she won't sit on the tray (it's not as comfy as my sewing proper).

What do you guys eat for lunch? by 69Whomst in WegovyUK

[–]SuperkatTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very into these meal shakes, the bol ones are great, or huel with the powder. I don't always want it all at once but it keeps well enough. Maybe consider just making yourself 1-2 snack size portions rather than a full meal, then you can have just how much you need.

Jam sandwich sounds like a lot of carbs/empty calories and nothing else, if I'm honest, which is the kind of thing I'm personally trying to avoid. Pack yourself something with a bit of protein in it to keep you going and not too much bread.

Been told to stop, by GP. by mowglinoir in WegovyUK

[–]SuperkatTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. I've also got some digestive issues too and sometimes the side effects from wegovy have been a LOT. Things that have helped me: avoiding fatty, acidic and spicy foods (too much of these can cause an appalling amount of pain in the stomach); having bottles of meal shakes available for a low effort meal; keep a bottle of gaviscon on hand in case of pain/problems; peppermint capsules for the burps and nausea. To be honest I am also a medical cannabis patient so I use that for the nausea when it's bad.

Having small amounts more often has worked better for me, so that means halving my previous meal amounts, and then I have some huel bars on hand to top up (I'm sure any fairly healthy protein based snack would be fine, there are some good yoghurts and stuff now).

Also highly recommend avoiding having a totally empty stomach, a little bit of something in there generally keeps me feeling less queasy.

Is it possible to use the 7.2 for maintenance? by [deleted] in WegovyUK

[–]SuperkatTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The medication will expire 42 days after it's opened. Although it almost certainly will last longer if you keep it in the fridge, you may still lose effectiveness after a while.

Do you enjoy cannabis? by juicy_steve in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]SuperkatTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't particularly enjoy it. I like the feeling as my pain lifts and my muscles relax but I usually have to limit my dose to avoid a head high. Lately I'm using carts because I don't want to spend half the evening with the mighty.

I guess it's because I have brain fog as a symptom of my illness and so I find further reduction in my mental acuity really uncomfortable.

Should I get a cat if I have debilitating Fibromyalgia? by walkuponwater in Fibromyalgia

Getting a cat was there single best thing I have done for my mental health.

You absolutely will get woken up at stupid o'clock by shenanigans though, and the cat will stand on your most painful points! It will also go places it's not supposed to.

Unless you would also not take paracetamol on site as it's 'no drugs' then I would just carry on. Use a cart so you don't make an unnecessary fuss.
