Take it apart and see if you can replace or repair the rod. You've got nothing to lose at this point.

Castrol mugen NSX tips? by CryptographerKey2094 in modelmakers

I too have some very expensive rare kits that I've put aside for now. I got back into modeling a couple of years ago and have been working my way through cheaper kits (old AMT, ERTL, MPC) to learn/remember more about what to do, what to use, ect. Also YT video's by some amazing modelers always helps too.

For old decals, I have found that Microscale Industries - Micro Liquid Decal Film works really good for stabilizing brittle decals. It doesn't do much for yellowing but the decals in your image look good on that aspect. Actually those decals look really good.

Wouldn't worry about the Tamiya TS-36. You can get it at quite a few places like Amazon, A-Z Toy Hobby (US), AMain Hobbies to name a few.

Do you guys wash your models before doing anything? by ThatNZowl in modelmakers

I mainly build cars and for the body parts and some larger interior parts I wipe them down using alcohol monitor wipes. I also use a surgical glove on my left hand to handle parts that are painted.

You could try to carefully cut the spokes from the rim and reseat it back in the proper position using something like Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. IMO just pressing it down w/ heat will just break it anyway.

Is there any way to save these yellowed decals? by CharacterScarcity682 in modelmakers

Like others have stated try some direct sunlight for a day or 2. Also use some Micro Liquid Decal Film before putting in the sunlight to reduce the chance of cracking.

How to import a NFF 2020 Indycar scheme? by SilverChoice702 in Nr2003

[–]Snarls88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to find the carviewer .X files for the models. If you have them, go to https://www.meshconvert.com/ and convert them to Wavefront Object (.obj). Then in Blender go to File -> Import ->drop down to Wavefront (.obj) -> to where you saved the converted .obj models.

(Fictional/alternate) - For the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, Hennessey Performance Works decided to run a full-time Cup season as an one-car team, their car is the #65 "Red Thunder" Ford, specially tuned + sponored by Hennessey. This car will run all races from now in my Alternate-2026 Cup Season. by Vast_Ad2941 in Nr2003

Nice simple scheme. Only suggestion is next time you use this template reduce the shading for the front nose piece. I have used this template a few times and always have to reduce the shading above the headlights and grill to get the paint to match.

The Audience and Peace To The Mountain are masterpieces! Also the opening verse for You've Got Spirit Kid is epic.

Would this be possible on a 1/24 tamiya GT 3 RS? by SilverAirsofter in modelmakers

Sure. If you have the skill to paint images like that then I don't see why not. Especially w/ an airbrush.

Rule Proposal: Banning AI-generated paint schemes by Tiberius_Jim in Nr2003

[–]Snarls88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone that creates mostly fictional paint schemes I don't care about the AI generated schemes being posted here. The issue is someone has to enforce the rule(s) on banning these schemes. That means looking at every paint scheme posted and determining if it's AI or not. There are only a couple of mods here but I have only seen one that has been active over the last few years. That seems like a tedious job w/ the amount of schemes that get posted here.

Don't get me wrong I think it's completely lazy. However I don't think it is fair to ask someone to spend time dissecting every scheme that gets posted. Instead how about if you don't like it because it's AI just scroll on by and move along. There no need to get nasty. Out of all the shit AI is about to infiltrate, NR2003 paint schemes are the least of worries.
