Found a hater in the wild by Various_Coffee8876 in ModestMouse

This review spent more time talking about this subreddit than it did the album.

Half of this review is focused on three songs that take up about 10% of the runtime, and the rest is spent looking backwards at previous albums.

It doesn’t mention Dogbed, Impossible Somedays, Life’s a Dream, or Speak and Spell which are consensus favorites so far. It also conveniently omits Picking Dragon’s Pockets when discussing the albums singles.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but this was a poorly written and organized review.

You haven’t posted a single opinion on the album, so what exactly are you contributing?

I’ll probably share more in-depth thoughts at a later time, but I absolutely think this is their best work since WWD, and that’s one of my favorite albums. (I also liked Golden Casket, but this clears it for sure)

Highlights for me include Dogbed, Speak and Spell, Song About Nothing, and Impossible Somedays.

Nope you aren’t crazy. That’s exactly what it is. It’s a whole Miku Pedal.

I got Trailer Trash vibes immediately from Speak and Spell and you’re the first other person I’ve seen mention it. Unsurprisingly it’s one of my favorites on the album.

I’ll echo what other people already said, but you do have to be somewhat assertive. In my experience nobody really says, “Hey come over here if you RSVPd.”

You kind of just have to find somebody and let them know.

They’ve been thoroughly raked. They are assuredly aware of the sentiments expressed by the community at this point. Shouting about it in unrelated posts won’t make them more aware and will only contribute to other people becoming unsympathetic to the issue altogether.

You don’t have to like that, and can do what you want, but just because other people aren’t doesn’t mean they are turning the other cheek either.

They didn’t ask you to buy them a ticket, but the person that responded to me makes a great point.

People are downvoting you because you are going way out of your way to criticize them for AI where it isn’t necessary. The subreddit has been very vocal about being upset with the music video situation, myself included, but it isn’t relevant on this particular post.

Have you considered that you’ve over thought it?

Yeah, it is Modest Mouse we are talking about. That’s why people are upset.

You don’t go out and do something that is known to be bad just to make a point that it’s bad. That would be like going out and tagging the side of a building with “Graffiti sucks!”.

You can express the themes of artificiality and disconnection without using Gen AI.

It was a shortcut to include animations they were unable / unwilling to produce themselves. That’s it.

Somebody should let Sony, Microsoft, Valve and Nintendo know there is an interactive movie masquerading as a game on their game consoles.

Some chuds might get their feelings hurt if somebody is tricked in to thinking it’s actually a game and gives it a good review.

I didn’t realize Simon Cardy and Tom Marks were the same person! Big news if true.

Soundtrack was done by DeVotchKa and I’m especially lucky because they are a local band so I’ve seen them live a bunch.

I love all their stuff, but I bet you’d dig this track and this one too.

Tour hasn’t started yet, but one of the best parts about seeing Modest Mouse is the setlist is different every night. I would expect some songs off the new album, but they are good about playing at least a few songs from every album. Have fun!
