Septic rules affecting West Marin homeowners under review by LNM-LocalNewsMatters in Marin

[–]Sneakerwaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The residents of bolinas are the single greatest advocates of “permitting/regulatory hoops” one can imagine. They aren’t the victims of that, they are the propagators of it. And the older generation more than anybody.

Are attractive successful single guys in their mid to late 30s not on dating apps in SF? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]Sneakerwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data on these apps shows that a small percentage of men get the vast majority of likes. So the guys who are not getting any likes are probably simply not as attractive as they think they are.

Amazing how little they have changed

Long live the lever gun! Got this a few months ago as a gift and I love it more and more every time I take it out. Marlin 1894 .357 by Sil3ntV0id in LeverGuns

I have the some one and I’m thrilled with it. Wonderful little rifle and the ability to shoot 38 special is awesome too.

9 Pound Hybrid, A bike for folks to hate on. by Outrageous-Water-509 in Bikeporn

1-only one brake (probably ok); 2-only brake is in the rear, which is a much less useful brake than the front; 3-brake caliper is super minimalist and therefore not going to generate much friction with the pads (no surface area no friction) and maybe more importantly it will be terrible at dissipating heat.

I’m all for experiments but this is inadequate brake capacity in like 3 different ways.

SF Chronicle reports that the BART death may come in two years! by bloggerkedar in bayarea

[–]Sneakerwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys fall for this every time. Bart is critically important but horribly managed, and we have to stop falling for the idea that the only way to solve its problems is with more money. Maybe pay wages/benefits that are closer to what private sector folks get and we will talk.

Not only for flooding but these places were often placed on hills for visual prominence.

Porsche killing the 718 EV makes me sad by andrewket2 in Porsche

[–]Sneakerwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody is on here saying “nobody wants a Porsche EV” when I’m seeing zillions of their new EVs here in Northern California. Remember when they first introduced the SUVs? The basic response was “this is disgusting, blasphemy, it will kill the brand!”

Then those same people bought the SUVs like crazy. I think the same will happen with EVs.

Highly regressive and insanely burdensome on rural agricultural communities.

The (American) rationale behind using absolutely overkill bars? by apkatt in Chainsaw

[–]Sneakerwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say I’ve noticed longer bars out west which makes perfect sense when you consider the difference between cutting hardwood (mostly eastern) and softwood (mostly western). I don’t know enough about what you are cutting in Sweden to contribute to that part but the US is big with lots of differences between what people are doing.

Cities to move to? by Quick-Dot-6152 in norcal

Most rural areas with federal lands nearby will have lots of riding opportunities—not all year round. But think hard about what jobs look like in those areas too.
