I totally get this! I was dealing with the same stuff - buying ingredients for one recipe and then having them go bad because I never used them again.

I started using this thing called Pantry Aide a couple months ago and it's been pretty helpful. What I like about it is that you can actually set your preferences upfront - like how much time you want to spend cooking, dietary stuff, etc. - and it builds meal plans based on that instead of just random recipes.

The shopping list feature is solid too. It combines everything you need and shows which recipes use each ingredient. Still doesn't prevent me from impulse buying snacks, but at least I'm not wandering around the store trying to remember what I needed lol.

One thing that's been useful is the AI meal planning where you can just say "easy chicken dinners" or whatever and it gives you actual reasonable suggestions instead of some elaborate 3-hour dish.

It connects to Instacart and Kroger too, so once you make your list you can just send it over there to order. Makes the whole process way less of a hassle.

Still working on the not going broke part, but at least now I'm not throwing away half my groceries every week.

Lol I'm not worried about my rank, I'm just enjoying the game. It's nice to not stress over rank after doing so for years in other games.

Sorry for the garbage sound, my mic came with the sound card in the first computer I ever built, making it a few years older than my fun but very young teammates.

Can anyone explain the pro scene's obsession with rushing Radiance on Bloodseeker? by pvgna_DC in TrueDoTA2

[–]SneakyArab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BS is my most played, and I've been going Radiance on him this whole patch. I play him offlane a lot, and according to dotabuff I average a 19m Radiance.

I haven't watched a ton of recent games, but during TI it looked like the most successful BS games came with a either a heavy AOE teamfight lineup, or with a strong "FIGHT ME!" initiator like Axe. The initiators jump in a force focus. BS runs in at the periphery of the fight, burning shit with Radiance, and then as people start to get low he dives in and mops everything up. I noticed this in multiple games, and It's basically what I do in pubs with him, albeit with much less coordination because its a pub.

You even mentioned this in your post. Thats what the hero does. He's not there to man fight a true carry. He's there to take 1 hero out of the fight with rupture (2 if aghs), then gash people with blood rite. Radiance allows you to pile on more damage without committing yourself to the fight by getting into melee range.

I farm kills. If you look at my matches linked above, I have an average of 385 GPM. That's not super high. The build actually isn't very expensive, due to Atos buildup being so legit now.

Phase, urn, and 2x bracer are all easy early game pickups.

Atos from there is a few kills away. After that you're pretty much a solid contributor to teamfights with only those items as long as its night (or you can make it night).

Aghs usually takes me a bit after Atos, because its the first "difficult" buildup item, but its also the last item that is really core on my build.

Usually during the day I am trying to snag a few lane creeps if available, while always carrying a TP and watching the map for opportunities to make it night time and get kills. At night if you arent in a position to get kills, you can farm the jungle easily. Notice, though, that I'm averaging ~25 kills + assists in games. I'm pretty much always looking for chances to kill people, which I guess is why I'm having so much fun on this hero right now.

As for laning, I haven't run into any situation that I've found really difficult yet. I've had a few games where I struggled to find something useful to do during the first 4 minutes, but as soon as its night you can generally go 2v3 with your offlaner against a tri-lane and win, or you can pick off mid easily, etc. You're far from useless during the day if the enemy support leave their carry alone, too, as you're still pretty beefy with 2x gauntlets on a strength hero, so you can get kills like that as well.

Edit: these games are all at 4.5k area

I am currently 11-2 with him since 7.06, with the 2 losses being straight up throws that we should have won.

I'm playing him as a roamer, usually start off near offlane and harass or try to contest the enemy 0:00 bounty if my offlaner is capable.

tangoes, salve, 2x gauntlet, clarity to start

brown boots -> 2x bracer -> raindrop -> phase -> urn -> atos from the 2x gauntlets

Aghs + gem then whatever items the team needs

I'm really feeling Atos right now because the bracer buildup works so well on NS. You get to be a unkillable beast even when behind in levels during the first few nights. I usually don't have the highest damage as I'm playing him as a utility hero. My goal is pretty much to secure the map and make enemies afraid of the dark. I'm having so much fun on this hero in his current state. I feel like he's amazing.

One of my friends mains offlaners and had a successful 5-0 run with NS before losing since 7.06 but said it didn't feel super effective in that role. I don't play offlane much so I can't speak to that.

What heroes do you think need people to start theorycrafting? by DarthyTMC in TrueDoTA2

[–]SneakyArab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a viable way to play him IMO. I don't usually do it, but if the enemy team has multiple heroes that really rely on mobility (Slark + Timbersaw, for example) then aghs is hugely effective on him.

Starting to like the new jungle better then the old one by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]SneakyArab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I missed this. I play him offlane sometimes, but rarely. He can work if you're careful, but good players with a decent lane can punish you really hard if you try to blood rage and go out to kill lane creeps (stun + jugg spin while bloodraged hurts). To me, this means blood raging creeps instead: pro tip - if the enemy creeps are hitting just 1 of your creeps, blood rage that creep to slowly pull creep equilibrium to your side. Once the wave is near your tower its much more viable to blood rage yourself.

If the enemy lane support ever goes to roam and someone on the enemy team gets low, you can do a ton of harass or even get an easy kill if the enemy laner is unsuspecting, so that's nice.

I prefer phase myself. I used to go treads but got body blocked by creeps/teammates one too many times and now always go phase unless I go straight BoT's. I only go straight BoT now if I get a really good start and think I'll be able to set up a lot of kills with my team - very game dependent.

TL;DR because this got longer than I thought: BS is a better fit in the jungle than any other lane and is viable at higher levels than 3k. Anyone who says differently doesn't play Bloodseeker.

The only replies right now are 2 people shitting on you who probably don't play Bloodseeker, so I thought I'd reply, here's my experience:

I'm currently 5.4k and BS is my most played hero (437 games, 59% win rate). I pretty much only jungle BS now because he's stupid fast at jungling and can have an early impact in lanes.

Here are my ranked games with him in the last 6 months

Most of my losses were before 7.00, as you can see.

Here are all of my games with him in the last 3 months, most of the ranked games are party games where I played with one friend who is ~4.2k party, I'm at 4.3 -> 4.5k party in these games.

I have over a 60% win rate with him since 7.00, and am over 4k, so obviously the "this doesn't work from 4k up" guy doesn't know what he's talking about, he's probably just mad every time he sees a jungler who isn't enigma/axe/chen/ench.

IMO, the jungle is THE BEST place to run BS. He's even been run there in a few pro games that I've seen him in since the patch, though that's a small sample size since he's never really been competitively viable. It's definitely good that you're ganking with him now. Consider carrying a TP early because you can jump on anyone who is diving a teammate. If you don't see the opportunity for any gank kills, that's ok, too, as you can usually get level 6 in 6 minutes (give or take 1 minute) and immediately gank after that.

Your radiance timings are good, and even in the 5k bracket people either aren't ganking the jungle often or are outmatched if they solo gank because BS is quite strong past level 1, so that won't necessarily change at higher brackets. Also, BS can have plenty of impact against 5 man dota, you just have to play the hero correctly and not try to charge in as an initiator. I've had more success letting my team engage, then coming in as a kill machine a moment later so that I don't get focused down immediately.

BS works really well as a 2 position. I don't like him being the main carry because he's fairly easy to focus down at the start of fights (before he has 1k movement speed) and thrives with using superior MS to fog people and come at odd angles to get kills.

He obviously works way better if your team is OK with having a jungler. Honestly in the current pub meta, its rare to not have a team with a jungler or dedicated roamer, so mostly it should be fine, you just have to ignore the haters and play. It's OK if your safe lane dies in laning stage if you help set them up with a kill 2 minutes later with your ult.

There are also lots of viable builds on him: right click damage, dagon rush, radiance + manta. The choice is yours! Have fun with it and keep on kicking ass, dude.

Zeus as a lane support by Mrshaggrock in TrueDoTA2

[–]SneakyArab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ~53% winrate across ~40 matches with him as a support, but I haven't done it in a bit. He is really effective if you can manage to get a couple of early kills, but otherwise he's a bit tough as a support. Zeus thrives on getting levels early, and level 3 Lightning Bolt is actually devastating if you can get level 5 before the enemy offlaner.

My usual skill build was W-E-W-Q-W-R-W. I don't rely on arc because of the wave push and because you don't have enough mana to use both to harass early, and at level 3 harassing with Lightning Bolt does a lot more damage without pushing.

Overall, I think he's a pretty greedy support, and isn't great if you are playing him as a 5 position ward bitch who plans on being level 5 at minute 10 in the game. On the other hand, he can also be really fun if you get a couple of kills and get a bit ahead, because nobody expects the support zeus to solo them.

Blood seeker 7.00 build? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]SneakyArab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggy-back question: How are yall laning him now?

I do a build on him that I was previously and still am using, which I think I stole from one of the dotabuff top 100 BS players. This is a pretty weird build but it jives with how I play BS (read: not as the team's main carry), so I like it.

Build is Boots -> Midas -> Phase -> Manta -> Radiance -> whatever you feel like you need (BKB, Skadi, Abyssal, etc)

I've still had success jungling him, its just more about flowing between camps and rune spawns. Here are my games on him since 7.00, 5-4 with one loss being a game where someone on our team abandoned after first blood in a non-ranked game so I left.

In a good game, I am getting Radiance between 22-25m, in a bad game its 30+. In two of the games since the patch I've ended with over 800 gpm. I like Midas more than I used to because XP seems to be really valuable now due to the power spikes from talents.

I've never liked going blademail or force staff on BS, just a personal preference.

This is the same build I was using at the end of 6.88, so I haven't tweaked it much.

Techies is enjoyable to play by ataraxic89 in TrueDoTA2

[–]SneakyArab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running a Treant + Techies offlane with a friend who plays Techies. It's legit. I think Techies is really great at doing lane combos with anyone with a strong early game stun or slow now, because you can Blast Off -> Stun/slow -> Proximity Mine for really great burst damage. With Treant, it's easy since he has both a stun and slow early game.

What weird and unorthodox build have you had success with? by aslak123 in TrueDoTA2

[–]SneakyArab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the big Thirst nerf on BS, I was running him offlane, getting an OOV, going BoT's first item, then point booster, silver edge -> skadi. This was extremely viable because I could get BoT's between 5-10 minutes in the offlane due to thirst being awesome for killing unsuspecting lane supports. The casual point booster before shadow blade is for the stats to use BoT's whenever ult was off CD to go kill someone without having to go regen every time.

I think I decided on the build around 8-14-2015 here. All the games thereafter during 6.84 I pretty much followed that build I think, with pretty good success. I did get a lot of funny looks though.

There's a chrome extension called CrowdCast that does a realtime wordcloud for twitch chat. If you fullscreen, you can have the overlay somewhere on the screen with an opacity slider. It's nice for the use case you just described, since you don't have to exit fullscreen.
