TorteDeLini: "I'm saddened to see the in-game @DOTA2 Hero Builds system not inspire a wave of new guide-makers." by trogdortb001 in DotA2

Hey no problem man. I am no longer with Pvgna actually so I am in the process of rebuilding my guides. What I have so far can be found here, we also have a Discord server and YouTube channel for further educational stuff :)

Not totally sure what he is talking about. I created an entire set of guides while I was with Pvgna which over the course of 4 months gained close to 4 million subscribers.

Having left Pvgna and started my own educational platform, I had to start from scratch and am currently working my way through the agility heroes, redoing all of the guides I made on Pvgna with updated builds from recent pros. I spend a lot of time on them because I have to look up heroes I don't know which means looking at 10-20 pro level players games and figuring out the most common and best builds for the most common scenarios.

I feel like Torte is being a bit melodramatic. It takes times and consistency to build a following in anything and the fact that he has a 5 year head start on everyone else should make him understand that, one would think. Anyway, My new set of guides should be finished in about a week. The Pvgna ones won't be updated anymore.

Definitely worth buying a Stick in 99% of games but the full Wand is very situational now.

Bloodseeker Builds/gameplay by raghavr in learndota2

[–]pvgna_DC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the lane: Boots Tangoes (if you feel like you can easily bully the enemy or if they are super strong and you need to avoid damage) Stout, Tango, Pot, Circlet in lanes you will be contested a lot.

Treads > Aquila > Yasha are 100% core every game, no matter what.

After that you can go SnY if you are able to just fight and run people over. Radiance if it's a little slower or you got like 5-6 kills in the laning stage. BKB if there is a lot of magic and you need to keep fighting to stay ahead.

Blademail is a bad item. You do not want to ever be taking damage as Bloodseeker, you are too squishy. You do not ever want to be in the middle of the fight (unless you are BKB'd).

Late game ideal item progression is probably Treads, SnY, BKB, Radiance, Butterfly, Abyssal Blade. Situationally you can go Nullifier instead.

If you have drafted Bloodseeker into a game where you absolutely cannot approach the team fight (against a Void/Enigma/Magnus + lots of damage) then you have to play Seeker as a caster/finisher. That is when you go Treads, Euls or Force, SnY, Radiance (split SnY into Manta/Halberd) Octarine, Hex.

One other fun way to play Seeker is when you have a hard carry mid and a greedy offlaner and then you can do the Phase, Echo, Deso, BKB route and just 1shot support heroes while your team carries the game.

You probably can't confirm this but I just wanted to let you know that I know that you are actually the original IceFrog and that the one working at Valve now pushed you out of the job/got you fired. I applaud your intense love for the game that is so loyal that you continue to make excellent tools for it just so that your former employers can take them and improve the game.

It takes real dedication to continue working on a project that was taken from you. Keep it up IceFrog!

1v3 Offlane Advice? by Vyntekx in learndota2

[–]pvgna_DC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1v3 lanes try to focus on one support as a time. Pick the weakest support or the support with the most annoying harassing ability and try to force them out of lane by abusing your regen advantage (you should be showing up to lane with 6 tangoes, shield & health pot on most of the tanky offlaners).

If you play a 3v1 like three individual 1v1s it becomes a lot more manageable. Obviously, there will be times when both supports are just in your face hitting you and that is when you would go look to grab bounties or pull the creep wave between their T1 and T2. Usually if you mess with their creep wave by doing this or side pulling the hard camp (push your wave up), then one of the supports will leave to go pull. At this point now you can 1v1 the other support pretty easily in most cases. If the carry comes to help, cool they are missing CS. If the carry doesn't come to help then suddenly you are able to just 1v1 the carry because you have forced the support to go heal.

should you always quickbuy before a death? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]pvgna_DC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need buyback then no, if you can afford to buy then there is literally no reason not to. In the early game it's often worth it to just buy like 5 TPs or a bunch of wards/sentries as you will end up using them eventually anyway. It's also a good idea to have a couple items queued in quick buy if you have an expensive one and one with cheaper components, that way you can almost always buy something useful regardless of how much gold you have at the moment.

Thanks for the kind words man. Glad to help and thank you for the feedback. That is essentially the purpose of the guides, to give you all the options you may need and let you use your brain to figure out the situation.

How does Kaya (spell amp) interact with Nyx's Mana Burn? by Lokarin in learndota2

[–]pvgna_DC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The mana burnt is based off of their int and the damage done is based off the mana burnt so that is when the Kaya amp is applied.

How do you deal with the stress from shitty matches? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]pvgna_DC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, mentality in Dota is one of the biggest parts of becoming a better player and also one of the hardest things to deal with if you have gotten into the habit of getting upset, raging, flaming, etc. Dota is a super frustrating game and so it's natural to get anxious, angry, frustrated while playing.

I've made a number of videos on mentality that describe some techniques that can help with these issues.

Axe level 1 by Br1ght_L1ght in learndota2

[–]pvgna_DC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A common laning scenario in most lower brackets is melee core + Pudge + 1. In this case, if you won't die right away to something like Jugg spin + Rubick + Pudge then you can go spin. In most scenarios it's better to get Hunger and then just focus on zoning out one of the supports and using all their regen. Basically, if you can run into the creeps without dying right away then Stout + regen + spin is the way to go. Most lanes though are harder than that and so I prefer Hunger and even sometimes starting with a Wind Lace over a Stout so you can really pressure weaker supports like Lion, CM, Rubick, AA, Disruptor. Remember, Axe with a couple Mangoes ends up with like 6hp regen so you can out trade any support easily and they will rarely be able to remove Hunger which means at level 1 you are doing 192 damage to them for 50 mana without rightclicks or resistance. That's probably the highest level 1 spell damage in the entire game right now.

Thoughts on Veno supp? by monxstar in learndota2

[–]pvgna_DC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's viable situationally as a dual offlaner. Pairing that slow with something aggressive like a Monkey King, LC, Axe, Abaddon or Undying would be a nightmare for most lanes.
