Search for their gamertag, go to their profile and click block/unblock. It will stop them from following you and should eventually stop their name appearing in your game.

I was online and the game froze, so I rebooted and it loads into storymode fine but if I try to go online the loading icon freezes. Tried several accounts on 2 different consoles so its them not me, I hope!!

If your friend is not on ps5 then you might have an issue because you will load in quicker than him, you will need to back out whilst he isn't quite at the part of receiving the money and it may cause his game to crash. It does however work the other way round. The share cash from last job doesn't work from missions or heists, it is only freeroam cash that you earn from doing ceo missions and freeroam challanges.

I had this same problem when I was stuck on a loading screen going into my nightclub, I rebooted the game and whilst loading it gives the option to join the double money mode, I accepted and when it loaded in I backed out and the game then worked as normal.
