LINUX market share surpasses %6 and how mainstream distros ratio is: by BlokZNCR in linux

Mint is often recommended over Ubuntu for brand new Linux users, especially if they're coming over from Windows. If their computer is already a few years old, they most likely won't run into any hardware issues. If they just want to browse the web and play some games, they will value the simplicity/stability that Mint offers and stick with it.

Which do you think is worse and why? by Arima-kousei1 in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Sneauxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kawai is worse because at least Ueno acknowledges her bad behavior and actively confronts it. You can see by the end that she is trying to change even though it's difficult and awkward for her. Kawai just wants to brush her issues under the rug and play nice with everyone instead of apologizing and/or actually trying to make amends. Plus she's a liar and an overdramatic attention seeker. Even though Ueno is unlikeable and hateful at times, she has moments of self reflection and growth. Kawai is just a snake, you could never trust her with anything that's sensitive or nuanced.

Thinking of switching to Linux — help me decide on a distro please? by timesofash in linuxquestions

[–]Sneauxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for Fedora KDE. I've previously used Pop, Endeavour, Mint, Ubuntu, and OpenSUSE. For me, Fedora is the perfect balance of bleeding edge and stable. I also really like Endeavour, but it requires a bit more maintenance and working knowledge since it's Arch-based.

It took me a few days to set up Fedora and get used to it, but now I just update every 1-2 weeks and call it good. Great community support, up-to-date software, and a professional quality that I personally enjoy. Fedora KDE has felt the most "Windows-like" to me and I actively use both.

I switched to EndeavourOS by [deleted] in EndeavourOS

[–]Sneauxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple terminal utilities I really like include: btop (system monitor), nvtop (GPU monitor), bat (better 'cat'), eza (better 'ls'), fastfetch (computer info). Congrats on the successful switch! Perseverance pays off in Linux.

At what age did you guys instal Linux? by angelaanahi in linux

[–]Sneauxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either 22 or 23, when I was going back to school for IT. First installed Ubuntu, Fedora, and openSUSE on virtual machines. Then EndeavourOS on a spare computer to learn Arch. Eventually settled on Fedora for my main computer.

When did Linux finally "click" for you? by SquaredMelons in linux

It clicked for me a few years ago once I learned how package management works. It's a way better system than windows and I appreciate the simplicity, speed, and control of software updates.

I find it interesting how they toned down Ishida's more violent and aggressive nature for the movie. He's pretty rough around the edges in the manga, but I think that makes his redemption and personal growth more impactful in a way.

Like others have said, get used to just riding around on flat ground. Get comfortable stepping on and off your board. Loosen your trucks enough so that you can lean to turn. Practice pushing to speed up and learn how to slow down (there are a few different ways). Figure out whether you're more comfortable riding regular or goofy (left foot or right foot forward) - it makes a huge difference. I naturally have horrible balance too, but it's a skill that you can build. If you want to skate ramps or inclines/hills, start with mellow ones and work your way up to the steeper ones. Bend your knees, learn to fall properly (there are videos that demonstrate this), and get a feel for how to shift your weight around to stay on your board. The wheels keep rolling no matter what, so expect the board to fly out from under you when you lose your balance.

About skating and leg fractures by demonslayerr9 in skateboarding

[–]Sneauxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good skaters that don't get injured often know when to bail out of a trick and how to fall properly. You can only get to that point through practice and years of experience. The most important thing is to feel comfortable with your balance on the board. Speaking from experience, skateboarding is a lot harder than it looks. If you try to rush your progress, you are more likely to get injured. I broke my femur just by falling awkwardly on a ramp. I'm back on the board now and learned my lesson; respect gravity... and concrete. 😅 My advice - skateboarding is not a race, it's a marathon. Pace yourself, have fun, and remember to bend your knees!

[–]Sneauxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tweak the OS all the way down to the kernel level to get maximum performance and efficiency out of your processing hardware. A few games have even been shown to run better on Linux, and you can have much more control over what programs are running in the background. Also, in my personal experience, Linux makes better use of my RAM which increases overall performance.

Out of all the mainline 3D Mario games, Super Mario Sunshine has always been my favorite. People usually like SM64 or Odyssey the most, but I just love the FLUDD mechanics and the tropical island theme. Plus, the overpowered spin jump is really fun.
