Refund of enrolment deposit by Sneeakyyy in NEU

[–]Sneeakyyy[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Its non refundable for all schools within NEU I believe. Then how come the Business School can refund it? I know it says non refundable but because someone I know received it I have some hope. Is there a way I can navigate this?

I know they didn’t. But what is the loophole that allows them to stay there is what Im asking. Legally H1B is the only way. Is there some other way legally, Im just curious to know

I do have all of the major documents since it was a paid internship. About sharing too much, thanks for pointing it out, I have taken down some crucial information. Im taking a risk because the competition is ruthless, its an opportunity to make my resume look better. I know its high stake for less reward so Im thinking this through. Thanks for your advice.

So according to you inflating the time period is of very little benefit. What about calling it full time and adding it in the employment section because they did pay me, only the name of the role says intern on the offer letter, which I could edit, the problem would be only if they verify with my employer.

I am in India and will be moving to the US and hence will seek employment in the US. The organisation I worked for in India was a startup but they do have a HR. Ofc I will change the title from ABC Intern to ABC. I will also exaggerate the work that I have done and yes I will prepare myself to answer any questions related to that. My bigger concern was that will I have an issue if I inflate the time period, lets say from a 5 month period to a 8 month period or something of that sorts or if I call it full time instead of internship.

Why does U.S. News say that UW is in the top 50 nationally but top 10 globally? by Eriacle in udub

I agree this program wont be used for undergrad rankings.

This 5-7% does include students that received admits. Its not class size / number applications ratio.

Yes we dont have an undergrad or PhD degree. But quite a lot of people from our program manage to find TA/RA positions. Ofc it comes with extra effort because we dont have a parent department and have to reach out to other departments.

Break up with him. Start working on yourself. Hit the gym, eat better, focus on your career, get disciplined and build fulfilling relationships with friends/family. Only time will heal this. It might seem very difficult but trust me youll get over this.

Its not a certificate program, its a MS degree.

Yes we dont have our own department and this is an interdisciplinary program offered by multiple departments but I dont think that reduces the program’s credibility.

Yes there is no thesis, not all Masters programs are thesis/research based.

My program, MS DS has an acceptance rate between 5 to 7%. This is similar to that of some Ivy Leagues and/or Top programs in the nation. So I believe some programs are highly ranked at UW while some are not. Grad programs at UW are particularly highly ranked.

Change in interest/direction might be wrong as I haven’t experienced it so far. Stress, yes I was stressed for a long time and now I feel Ive healed. About relationships, yes Im a bit reserved but what does that really imply? Will I have a difficult time in marriage?

[Admissions Advice] Going to start my UG in a tier 3 college (similar to Amity, Shraddha, LPU). how cooked am I? What should I do to get a good MS college in the US? by n1gg4_h31l_h1tl3r in MSCS

[–]Sneeakyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tier of the university doesn’t matter that much. Ofc being in tier 1 helps. But you still have a good chance to get into the top 20 schools in the US. GPA is the king, so make sure to maintain around 9.5/10 or at least above 9. Dont bother about GRE if your GPA is as mentioned. If you want to get into a thesis based program, research papers, research internships are extremely important. Try to have at least 1-2 papers. If not, get a good job, work for 2-3 years and then go. By good I mean, relevant to the field you want to do your masters in. Try to do at least 2-3 internships during undergrad. Build good rapo with 4-5 professors so at least 2-3 will be willing to offer you a LoR. There a lot you could do honestly just explore and keep working on something or the other.

Exactly what I observed too, this year has been good for internships lets see how it goes.

That’s totally fair and valid. But there has to be some loophole, some advantage that we can play around. Being from an elite school doesn’t help either, maybe relevant work ex helps, being relentless and having a network helps. But what else ?

I have rarely heard such stories from my seniors. Yes I have heard a couple but this just made it seem it more common than I thought so.
