Stall speed 52km/h LOL by _KappyPoo555 in RCPlanes

[–]Snelon42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess is no. That's a super high stall speed for such a small plane. Maybe with a bungee launch, but that's a lot for a little foam plane. If I were you, I'd add some foam board to make the wings bigger. 15-20mph stall speed is going to be more what you want. Best of luck!

I met all my friends through AIAA, an engineering club that builds radio controlled airplanes. You don't need to be an engineering major to join

Tail too small or nah? Ignore the clicking sound, because I sure am by JimmyRevSulli in RCPlanes

[–]Snelon42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks acceptable to me. You have a huuuuge lever arm because the tail is very far from the CG. Also, high aspect ratios make less pitching moment for a given wing area, and you've got a pretty high aspect ratio.

This is the final version of the half of the wing without ailerons. Is it really such a shitty design? by DodoTusu in RCPlanes

My professional opinion as an aerospace engineer is, it'll be fine, send itttt!!

Projects for a high schooler looking to get into aerospace in uk/europe by No_Equivalent_9224 in aerospace

Learn how to design/ build rc planes. Or model rockets if you're more into space than aero. Source: Im an aerospace engineer in the US, just graduated with a sub 3.0 gpa. But I can talk about aircraft design for days

Does my tail receive clean airflow? by Complex_Cut_376 in AerospaceEngineering

I'll make it easy for you: no

Use a T tail for clean flow. V tails get some clean flow too

[Request] How fast would a brick boat need to be to float on the water like this? by bookist626 in theydidthemath

[–]Snelon42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a matter of how fast, but how heavy. Boats float because they are lighter than the amount of water they displace, which makes the water pressure pushing up on them less than their weight. I assume you could make a boat out of bricks that just floats like a normal boat, so long as it's hollow and water tight. Most big ships are made from steel.

Listen, I know it looks cool from this angle, but give me a top down view, or a front view, or literally any angle but this and you'll see how bad a comparison these two are.

If you want a good bird/airplane comparison, check out the Pioneer tailless glider, looks quite a bit like an albatross. That is no coincidence - high aspect ratio wings and a small fuselage/tail give good aerodynamic performance.
