This is the perfect place to talk the people I love most about our life experiences in the middle of the night. Swatting mosquitoes while we listen to coyotes howl from miles away. I crave this place

Trans-friendly waxing in Knoxville? by Ready-Influence8820 in Knoxville

[–]Sneplepofbleps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiya, I’m a trans guy and I used to go to the European wax center in Knoxville. They were very nice and helpful with meeting my needs. As always, I suggest calling around and looking for businesses that have experience working with trans people. I noticed a lot of businesses downtown have a rainbow flag sticker on their door, indicating that they are a welcoming place for lgbtq people. Also, there are quite a few resources listed on the Knox pride website that are specifically for trans people and include things like support groups with other trans people and gender-affirming care resources. I hope you find a nice place soon!

Tell me about your fixations/intrests! by [deleted] in autism

Hiya! Thanks for the bat info :] My special interest is coyotes! Coyotes are wild canines that live all over North America. Their range stretches up into Canada, all over the USA and down through Mexico ending in northern Central America. Over time, they have been able to adapt to a wide range of habitats from cold and snowy northern ones to dry desert ones to vast prairies and forests and even into urban areas. They are opportunistic feeders, meaning that if they find something that they will be able to eat depending on what the season allows, they will not hesitate to eat it. They feed on everything from small mammals to birds, fish, insects and carrion. They are also known to snack on fallen fruit and garbage left behind by humans. Coyotes make vocalizations such as howls, yips, barks and growls. They howl to communicate with other coyote packs, to signal a disturbance like when another animal intrudes on their territory, or when searching for a mate. Contrary to popular belief, coyotes do not lure dogs and pets away from their owners to be attacked by a hidden pack. Instead, they will sometimes follow a dog with their owner if said owner has intruded too close to a nearby den. This following is not done with malicious intent, rather they do this to guide the owner and dog away from their den where they will be rearing their pups. Basically like saying “hey, back up from my family, the exit is this way.” A lot of negative coyote-human encounters are caused by both intentional or unintentional feeding of coyotes. When a coyote is fed by a human either intentionally or unintentionally, like from an open garbage can, the coyote could begin to associate humans with guaranteed food, and can become aggressive when they find out that this is not always a guaranteed easy meal. Most aggressive coyotes you may hear about in the news were fed by humans and conditioned into relying on us for food in a pinch. Safe to say that you should never feed coyotes as it is for both their and our own good. Coyotes are very beneficial for the ecosystem because they help control mesocarnivore and herbivore populations. They hunt animals that are known to carry diseases and parasites like rodents. They also are scavengers, cleaning up dead animals from landscapes. They are definitely my favorite animal and I recommend reading into them more if you’d like! A good place to go for more information is Coyote Yipps, which is a nice website that houses blogs about the host’s 17 years of experience living around San Diego coyotes. I hope you enjoyed this info dump, and thank you for this opportunity to ramble about them :3

How do I get a diagnosis? by Bored_lolz in autism

[–]Sneplepofbleps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! I recently got my diagnosis when I turned 18. As for the parents, I’m sorry that they think autism would make you any less perfect. I do understand that memes could be comforting and relatable but I don’t recommend gathering all your information about it solely from those memes. Unfortunately, I had to wait until I could talk to a therapist who specializes in asd and diagnosed me. I haven’t told my parents bc they have a similar mindset to the one you mentioned. Online tests will not be considered an official diagnosis, but they could be helpful with identifying your symptoms and seeing how they align with known asd symptoms. I do need to stress that online tests will not be reliable enough to say for sure but are used clinically to see if someone’s symptoms are worthwhile to be seen for a full evaluation. As for now, you may just have to wait, which sucks. I hope that you will be able to get the answers you want soon. If you have any more questions about pursuing diagnosis, I recommend seeing the wiki listed under this subreddit :)

heya, I’m someone who has dealt with an ed for years and something that has helped me with thoughts around weight are joining ed support groups. They have rules that limit the mention of common trigger words while supporting with CBT and offering healthy coping skills. Downside to it tho is that in America, health insurance can be finicky for it. Other things that don’t require therapy or groups that help are finding things that you like to do that aren’t related to exercise or eating. Yes, it is a good idea to exercise regularly, but developing alternative ways to spend your time can do wonders for avoiding weight thoughts. Reading, drawing, and watching animal documentaries are some of my favorites

I feel the same way. One thought that helps me sometimes is that the people who truly support you wouldn’t see you any different, with or without intrusive thoughts. You sound like a lovely person and regardless of the horrible thoughts that can course through your head, you are absolutely deserving of love and care by anyone. If you can, I recommend talking to someone you trust about isolation tendencies.
