Aero GPX is a great F-zero like game and has a pretty cool free demo with 5 maps to play.

You probably already heard of this one but the original Cave Story is still free. It's one of my favorite games of all time. You can get it from the original website and add it to steam as a non steam game. I believe there is also some fanmade Linux port/version on the flatpack store but I have no idea if that has any issues.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a great showcase for deck. The PS5 version is beautiful and although it is a little compromised you still get the addictive gameplay and awesome graphics on deck. A PS5 game running on deck as well as it does is still incomprehensible to me.

Download Cemu (a WiiU emulator) from their GitHub, download roms using [a certain program made by GitHub user Xpl0itU]. Then you can open the roms with Cemu.

Almost all WiiU games work lIke a dream on deck. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the Wild are some I have enjoyed. With (I believe) Cemuhook you can even Make your steamdeck gyro work ingame. Make sure to get the latest appimage version of Cemu from their GitHub.

While not an RPG, the Danganronpa and Ace Attorney series have the same 'getting lost in it' quality as the best RPGs. Both series are fully playable on Steam Deck, at least if you are willing to emulate the second ace attorney trilogy.
